Setting up Port Forwarding on a router for PSP Game

The following article will help you to forward a port range on a Linksys router for a PSP Game.

Check the IP/DNS Addresses on your Linksys Router

Step 1:
Open a supported Web browser (Ex. Internet Explorer) and in the address bar enter the IP address of your Linksys router. By default this should be http://192.168.1.1.

Step 2:
You will be prompted for the user name and password. Default user name and password for most Linksys routers is admin.

Next, click on the Status tab. Please take note of the DNS Addresses that your Router has on this tab.
 

 

NOTE: Leave this page open for later use.
 

Set a Static IP address on your PSP
 

Step 1:
Go to the Settings on your PSP and select the Network Settings Menu.

Step 2:
Select Infrastructure mode.

Step 3:
Select your configured Connection.
 
Step 4:
Select Enter Manually.

Step 5:
Continue to click the right directional button until you get to Address Settings and Select Custom.

Step 6:
Change the IP address setting to Manual.

Step 7:
Set the IP Address to an address within your subnet. If your router is on the Default IP Address (192.168.1.1) then you would enter 192.168.1.x. X being any number from 2-254. (Ex. 192.168.1.2).

Step 8:
Leave the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0.

Step 9:
Set Default Router to the IP address of your router. Again if it is on the default address then enter 192.168.1.1 or whatever address you used to access your router setup page.

Step 10:
Next to Primary DNS enter what you wrote down from the router status page as DNS1.

Step 11:
Next to Secondary DNS enter what you wrote down from the router status page as DNS2.

Step 12:
Select on Do not use for the Proxy Server settings.

Step 13:
Set Internet Browser to Do Not Start.

Step 14:
Use the Right directional button until you can Save Settings.

 

Forwarding Ports on your Linksys Router
 

Step 1:
Return to the wired/wireless computer you were using earlier and re-Open the Router page if you had closed it previously.

Step 2:
Go to the Applications and Gaming tab then Port Range Forwarding.

 


Step 3:
Enter an Application Name for every port range that needs to be forwarded.

NOTE: It is recommended to input the game name as the application name for future reference.

Step 4:
Enter the Start - End port range as provided by the game provider or Sony.
Leave the Protocol set to Both unless otherwise specified by game provider or Sony.

Step 5:
Change the last box of IP Address to the final number of the address you assigned to the PSP (If the example address was used this should read 192.168.1.2).

Step 6:
Check the Enable box.

Step 7:
Repeat for every set of port ranges needed.

Step 8:
Save
settings.

Step 9:
The ports should now be forwarded to your PSP.
