NOTE: Before starting the setup, make sure that your router is ready. The router’s system boot up time is approximately 90 seconds. You would know when the router is ready based on its top panel LEDs. You will see eight (8) solid white bars with the Linksys logo. If the white bars are flashing quickly, wait until they stay solid.
The following requirements should be met to avoid any problems during the setup process:
- Latest version of Internet Explorer®, Google Chrome®, Mozilla Firefox®, Safari® (for Mac® or iPad®), Microsoft Edge
- Latest Adobe® Flash® Player
Connect your wireless computer to the default SSIDs which are Linksysxxxxx and Linksysxxxxx_5GHz where xxxxx is the last five (5) digits of the serial number, while the wireless password is randomly generated. These credentials are available on your Quick Start Guide and also printed on the label at the bottom of the router.
NOTE: You can also enter “192.168.1.1” or “myrouter.local”.
Tick the checkbox beside I have read and accepted the License Terms for using this software then click Next to proceed.
NOTE: Click on the link provided to read more about license terms and other information. If you prefer to manually set up the router, tick the checkbox beside I want to skip Setup and configure my router manually.
The Smart Setup will now start to detect your Internet connection.
NOTE: If an Internet connection is not detected, you may receive certain messages depending on the issue encountered such as Your Internet cable is not connected correctly. Follow the suggested troubleshooting steps to resolve your connection problem then, click Next.
In the Updates for your router window, the Install future router updates automatically (recommended) is checked by default; this allows for automatic updates in the future. Click Next to proceed. You can always change this option later.
Enter your desired wireless Network Name and wireless Network Password. This will apply for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks in the fields provided and then click Next. If you need to rename a unique wireless network name for your 5 GHz network, you can do so after setup by logging into the web interface.
Create a router password and password hint and click Next.
NOTE: This is your local admin router’s password only.
Your router is now set up. The new Wi-Fi settings and router admin password will be displayed. Click to complete the entire setup.
