Setting up the Linksys E9450 router as a parent node using the Setup Wizard

This article will show you how to set up and configure your Linksys E9450 WiFi 6 Router as a parent node.

Before you begin, take note of the following:
  • You can either use a wired computer or a wireless device (e.g., a laptop, tablet or a smartphone) to set up the router.
  • To set up the Linksys E9450 using a wireless device, you first need to remember the default Wi-Fi name and password of the router.  These are located on the router’s product label.  The default Wi-Fi names of the router are Linksysxxxxx-guest and Linksysxxxxx_5GHz-guest (where xxxxx represents the last five digits of the router’s serial number).
  • The Linksys E9450 connected to the modem is called the parent node.  Other Linksys E9450 routers that you will use to extend the Wi-Fi are called child nodes.
NOTE:  This article is for Linksys E9450-AH, E9450-CN, E9450-JP, and E9450-KR.
Step 1:

b.)  If you are using a modem-router, connect one end of the ethernet cable into the yellow-labeled internet port of the Linksys E9450 and the other end into any available port on the modem-router.

Step 5:
Using an ethernet cable, hardwire a computer into one of the ethernet (LAN) ports of your Linksys E9450.
