Resolving problems with a wireless adapter that cannot be detected by Windows computer
If your computer does not recognize the Linksys network adapter, follow the steps below:
Disconnect the network adapter from the computer and reconnect it to the same port or slot where it was attached.
• If you’re using a Linksys PCI network adapter, shut down the computer first before unplugging the adapter. If you are not sure on how to open the computer chassis, contact the manufacturer of your computer for support.
• If you’re using a Linksys USB network adapter, make sure the device is stopped before disconnecting the adapter.
• If it is a Linksys PCMCIA network adapter, verify if the device is hot-swappable before disconnecting it; otherwise, shut down the computer before disconnecting the device from the computer.
Make sure that the adapter is properly connected to the USB port or PCI slot.
If you are using the AE3000 adapter, make sure that the device is properly inserted into its cradle. Also check if the cradle’s USB chord is properly connected to your computer’s USB port.
Use a different port or slot on the computer.
After performing the previous steps and the adapter is still not recognized, try seeing if another USB or PCI device works, or try another computer to further isolate the issue.
NOTE: If the adapter works on other USB or PCI ports then the port may be defective. If the adapter works with other computers then either your computer’s ports are defective, you need to clean install Windows, or you don’t have a high-powered USB 2.0 port.
