There are two (2) methods in setting up a client with Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS). You can either use the physical button that your Linksys device has or you can log in to the web-based setup page of your Linksys device and select one of the three (3) options for configuring WPS.
i. Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) button
ii. Web-based WPS button
NOTE: The Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ configures one (1) device at a time. The device you want to connect through Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ must also support WPS. Check your device's documentation to verify.
i. Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) button
If your router has a Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ button, press it then press the WPS
button at the side panel of your range extender.
QUICK TIP: If the range extender has not been configured, pressing the WPS button will configure the range extender to pair with an existing wireless router or access point. However, if the extender is already configured, pressing the WPS button will configure the range extender to pair with wireless clients like wireless laptops or any device that supports WPS.

If your range extender’s web-based setup page looks like the image below, click WPS under Wireless instead, then click Enabled for WPS.
b. Using the WPS PIN
If your client device has a WPS PIN, enter that number in the second field in the range extender’s web-based setup page. Then, click the Register button.
If your client device has a WPS PIN, enter that number in the second field in the range extender’s web-based setup page. Then, click the Register button.
c. Using the router’s PIN
If your client asks for a router’s PIN, enter the number shown in the third field into your client’s device.
If your client asks for a router’s PIN, enter the number shown in the third field into your client’s device.
Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ Light Activity
- When the Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ process is active, the light flashes slowly every two (2) seconds for two (2) minutes. When the Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ is successful, the light stays continuously lit.
- If there is an error, the light flashes sporadically for two (2) minutes. Wait until the light stops flashing before trying again.
