Setting up the Linksys Managed Switches

The Linksys Managed Switches namely, LGS528, LGS528P, LGS552, and LGS552P, are designed for customers who need enhanced Security and advanced QoS.   The LGS528P and LGS552P have built-in PoE+ feature that allows networking devices such as network hubs, IP phone, and IP cameras to be located anywhere without the need for AC outlets.
The steps below will guide you on how to set up your Linksys Managed Switch.

Before setting up your Linksys Managed Switch, make sure of the following conditions:
  • Make sure that the switch is powered ON and that the System LED is solid blue.
  • If the System LED is OFF, ensure that the AC power adapter or power cord is securely connected on both ends. 
  • The System LED is solid blue when the switch has obtained an IP address from a DHCP server in your network.
NOTE:  If the System LED is blinking blue, this means the switch has not detected a DHCP server on your network and is using its default IP address which is “”.  If you don’t have a DHCP server or not currently using one, assign an  IP address to your computer in the range of to access the switch in order to configure it.  You can then remove the IP address from your computer if needed.  To learn more about assigning a static IP address on your computer, click here.

Step 1:
Connect your computer a port on the switch using an Ethernet cable.

NOTE:  If the IP address assignment is by a DHCP server, access the DHCP server table to find the IP address assigned to the switch. 

Step 2:
Open a web browser on your computer, such as Internet Explorer, then enter the IP address of your switch. 
Step 3:
Enter “admin” as the default username and password.
Step 4:
Click Login to continue.          

You have now set up your Linksys Managed Switch.  You can start by going to the Quick Start page to begin configuring the switch.
