Make sure that the firmware version of your LAPAC1200 or LAPAC1750 is 1.0.07 or higher. If not, download the latest file from www.linksys.com/support.
Open the web-based setup page of your LAPAC and select the Captive Portal option. Then, click Global Configuration from the drop-down navigation pane.
Check Enable for Captive Portal and click Save.
Click Portal profiles under Captive Portal.
NOTE: A profile is a defined set parameters of login authentication, landing page, session timeout, etc. for your guest network. System supports up to two (2) profiles.
Select a Profile Name from Captive Portal Profile. There are two (2) pre-defined Profile Names in the drop-down list. Select one (1) and go to next step.
NOTE: Profile 1 is used here as an example.
Configure the parameter associated to Profile 1. For the definition of each parameter, click the Help link on the top right corner of your screen to see the details. Click Save once your configuration is done.
Click Web Customization under Captive Portal to create your own login splash screen for the guest network.
NOTE: If the default splash screen meets your needs, you can skip Steps 7, 8 and 9 then go directly to Step 10.
Select the Profile Name that you like to customize the splash page. One Profile maps to one customized login screen. In this example, Profile 1 is configured in Portal Profiles page. Select Profile 1 from the drop-down list.
Configure the parameters for Profile 1. Click Help on the top right corner of your screen if you need assistance with each parameter. Use the Preview button to confirm that your customization is what you desire to display. Click once configuration is done to apply your changes.
Click Profile Association under Captive Portal. You need to associate Profile 1 to the corresponding SSID because both the profile and web customization configurations are done.
Use any wireless client device, e.g. laptop, tablet, mobile phone to connect to Guest SSID. After the client connects, it will get an IP address assigned, but has no Internet access yet.
The You have logged on successfully page will show up once authentication is passed. Then, screen will redirect to your company website afterwards if your profile has Landing Page Enabled and Promotion URL configured. If you select Redirect to Original URL, screen will display whatever website that user typed in the beginning when browser was opened. Internet access is granted to this particular client starting now.
