Before you begin, click here for recommendations in installing the Linksys CM3016 or the Linksys CM3024.
Power OFF your networking devices and the computer you'll use to activate the modem, then unplug them from the power source.
Connect the RF coaxial cable from the wall port to the CABLE port at the back of the modem.
Connect an Ethernet cable from the modem’s ETH port to a computer or to a router.
NOTE: To connect more than one (1) device, use a multi-port Ethernet switch or a router (not part of the package inclusions).
Connect the power adapter from the POWER port of the modem then plug the power adapter to an outlet to turn the modem ON.
NOTE: The Linksys CM3016 or the Linksys CM3024 may reboot several times during this process and activation may take up to five (5) minutes. The modem will be ready for use when the LED lights on the front panel stop blinking and remain ON.
Plug in and turn ON your computer and other home networking devices this time.
Once the modem is ready, the ETHERNET, STATUS and POWER LED lights will be solid.
On your computer, open a web browser and verify the Internet access.
NOTE: Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) may have additional setup steps that will automatically appear on the browser. If this happens, follow those steps to finish the process. If you are still unable to go online, call your ISP and have your modem’s Serial Number (SN) and the Media Access Control (MAC) Address ready.
