1.  What is the Linksys app?


The Linksys app allows you to monitor and manage your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers and Linksys Velop Intelligent Home Mesh Wi-Fi System.  With the Linksys app, you can access and control your home network anywhere and anytime to check the connection status of your devices, set up Wi-Fi access for guests or restrict your kids from accessing social networking sites when they should be doing homework.  You can also prioritize which devices on your network get priority bandwidth to reduce lag times and buffering.  

2.  How much does the Linksys app cost?

The Linksys app is free when you purchase a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router or Linksys Velop.

3.  Can I use the Linksys app with any Linksys device?

No.  The Linksys app ONLY works with Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers and Linksys Velop.

4.  How do I install the Linksys app into my mobile device?

For iOS, you can download the app through the App Store® or iTunes®.  For Android™, you can download the app through the Google Play™ store or the Google Play website.

5.  How do I check the version of my Linksys app?

On your Linksys app, tap the Menu icon (three bars) at the upper left corner of the app then select Help.  Tap the + About option to see the Linksys app’s version.


SPECIAL FEATURES

1.  What is Guest Access?

Guest Access is a feature that allows you to share internet access without exposing the rest of your network.  Devices that are connected through Guest Access can get online but cannot see or access your external storage, computers or connected devices.  To know how to configure the Guest Access feature, click here.

2.  What is Parental Controls?

The Parental Controls feature allows you to manage your kids’ internet use.  You can restrict access to certain websites or block specific devices from accessing the internet.  For instructions, click here.

3.  What is Device Prioritization?

The Device Prioritization feature allows you to prioritize which devices on your network get the most bandwidth for less lag time and buffering.  To know more, click here. 

4.  Why does my mobile device ask for the Linksys app credentials?

Your mobile device will prompt for your Linksys app credentials if you are not connected to the router or node's Wi-Fi.  If you want to log in using your router or node password, select Log in with Router Password.

5.  Why can’t I see all the features and functionality of my router or node?

The Linksys app and web interface offer slightly different feature sets.  If the feature you are looking for is not available in the app, go to https://linksyssmartwifi.com on a desktop or a laptop computer to access all the features through the web interface of your router or node.

6.  Can I use the app on multiple mobile devices?

Yes, your Linksysserver account will provide access to any mobile device where the app is installed.

7.  How do I view or change my Wi-Fi name and password?

8.  What are the latest updates/features of the Linksys app?
 
Here are the new features in this update:
  • Supports Band Steering settings
  • Supports Link Aggregation feature (for Linksys EA8300 and EA8250 only)
  • Run a Speed Check locally and remotely (for Linksys EA8300 only)
  • Supports the Linksys Velop system
  • Displays devices that are blocked in Parental Controls and their time blocking status
  • Device Prioritization - add up to three clients
  • Password hint (selected models)
  • Shares Wi-Fi credentials by sending the password via email or text message
  • Removes an offline router or node from your Linksys server account

To share your Wi-Fi name and password, follow these instructions:

Step 1:
Connect your mobile device to your Wi-Fi and then open the Linksys app.

Step 2:
Tap Log in.  You will be prompted for the Email Address and Password for your Linksys server account.  Enter your credentials and then tap Log in.  

NOTE:  If you want to log in with your router or node's admin password, tap Log in with Router Password.  Tap the Enter Admin Password field, enter the router or node's admin password and then tap Log in.


Step 3:
On the Dashboard, tap the Share icon located on the right side of the Wi-Fi Name.

Step 4:
You can now choose how to share your Wi-Fi credentials, either via Text Message or Email.
