Changing from Range Extender mode to Access Point mode or vice versa using the Linksys RE6800's web-based setup page

This article will give you instructions on how to change the modes of your Linksys RE6800 AC1750 Wi-Fi Range Extender from Range Extender mode to Access Point mode or vice versa using the web-based setup page.

Step 1:
Access your Linksys RE6800’s web-based setup page.  To know how, click here.
 
Step 2:
Connect an Ethernet cable into the Linksys RE6800 and to your existing router or network.
 
Step 3:
Click Wireless > Basic Settings > Change.

Step 4:
On the Change Operation Mode section, select Access Point (Wired Range Extender) then click the Change button to proceed.

Step 5:
If you wish to rename the SSID, do so when prompted and click Save.
 
Step 6:
After the Linksys RE6800 reboots, the new mode will now function as an Access Point.
 
NOTE:  You can also reset the Linksys RE6800.  Go through the setup again, and choose the Access Point mode instead.

On the Change Operation Mode section, select Wireless Range Extender then click the Change button and follow the wizard to complete the new mode.

Step 5:
If you wish to rename the SSID, do so when prompted and click Save.
 
Step 6:
After the Linksys RE6800 reboots, the new mode will now function as a Range Extender.  If you had an Ethernet cable connected when the RE6800 was in Access Point mode, you can now remove it.
 
NOTE:  You can also opt to reset the Linksys RE6800.  Start the setup and choose the Range Extender mode instead.
