Using Site Survey on the Linksys RE6800 AC1750 Wi-Fi Range Extender

The Site Survey feature of the Linksys RE6800 AC1750 Wi-Fi Range Extender displays all the wireless networks within the range of the wireless range extender.  This article will give you instructions on how to use this feature of the device.

NOTE:  This feature is only available in Range Extender mode.
Step 1:
Open a browser to log in to the web-based setup page of your range extender.  To learn how, click here.
Step 2:
Under Wireless, click Site Survey.

Step 3:
On the Site Survey page, select your preferred network and click the Connect button.  If your network is not on the list, click the Refresh button.

  • Select - clicking the radio button beside the wireless network name (SSID) selects the SSID.
  • SSID - displays the name of available wireless networks.
  • GHz - indicates the radio band of available wireless networks.
  • Signal - displays the relative position of the available networks within range by indicating the power of the wireless signal received through the green signal bars.
NOTE:  The Signal column on the Site Survey indicates the power of the wireless signal received through the following:
Wireless Signal Power
dot only
dot plus one wave
dot plus two waves
dot plus three waves
QUICK TIP:  If no bar is displayed, the extender is located too far away from the router.  For optimum performance, place your extender near the router to keep the signal strength between 60% and 100%.
  • Security - displays the security type used by available networks.  If a network supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS), the WPS User-added image icon is also displayed.
Step 4:
If  you are connecting to a secured network, you will be prompted to enter a Passphrase.  Click Connect and wait for the settings to be saved.
You should now have connected to the network using the Site Survey feature of your Linksys RE6800.
