How to disable the Wi-Fi (Cox)

This article will walk you through general instructions on how you can disable the Wi-Fi on the Cox-supported devices below.
 
NOTE:  The steps and instructions may vary depending on your router/gateway’s model.  If your model is not on the list, contact your device’s manufacturer for support.
  • NETGEAR® WNDR3700/R6300/N150/WNR1000/WNR2000/C3000
  • Arris SURFboard® SBG6782
  • Arris TG1682
  • Cisco® DPC3825

Before you begin
  • Make sure that the computer you use to access the web-based setup page of your router or gateway is either wired to it directly or is connected to it via Wi-Fi.
  • Make sure to know your login credentials as these differ for every manufacturer.  Contact your device’s manufacturer for support.

NETGEAR WNDR3700/R6300/N150/WNR1000/WNR2000/C3000

Step 1:
Launch a browser.  Enter "https://www.routerlogin.net" in the address bar and press [ENTER].

Step 2:
Enter the login credentials for your device.  The default username is admin and the default password is password.

Step 3:
Click on the Advanced tab.

Step 4:
Click on Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings.

Step 5:
Uncheck the Enable Wireless Router Radio for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.

Step 6:
Click on Apply.

Arris SURFboard SBG6782, Arris TG1682
 
Step 1:
Launch a browser.  Enter "https://192.168.0.1" in the address bar and press [ENTER].

Step 2:
Enter the login credentials found on the back of your router.
  • The default username and password for Arris SURFboard SBG6782 is admin and motorola, respectively.
  • The default username and password for Arris TG1682 is admin and password, respectively.
 
Step 3:
Click on Wireless > 802.11 radio.

Step 4:
Under Wireless Network, select Disabled.  For Arris SURFboard SBG6782, do this for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz tabs.  For Arris TG1682, click the dropdown menu for Wireless Radio Enable and select Disabled for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz tabs.

Step 5:
Click on Apply.

Cisco DPC3825
 
Step 1:
Launch a browser.  Enter "https://192.168.0.1" in the address bar and press [ENTER].

Step 2:
Enter the login credentials for your device.  The default username and password for Cisco DPC3825 is blank.

Step 3:
Go to Wireless > Basic Settings.

Step 4:
Under Wireless Network, select Disabled.

Step 5:
Click on Apply.
