Setting up the Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender is easy with its browser-based setup feature. There’s no need for an installation software or setup CD.

An active Wi-Fi connection.
- Your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password / security key.
QUICK TIP: The Wi-Fi name and password are from your existing Wi-Fi settings and are case-sensitive. For instructions on how to check your Wi-Fi settings, click here.

The Linksys RE6700 should be plugged into a power outlet. Wait until the light is blinking orange before starting the setup process.
Using a computer or a mobile device, connect your device to the range extender's default SSID, which is Linksys Extender Setup – xxx.
NOTE: The xxx represents the last three characters of the Linksys RE6700’s MAC Address. This can be found on the label at the back of the device.

Open a web browser, then enter "http://extender.linksys.com" or "192.168.1.1" in the Address bar.

Select your Wi-Fi.
NOTE: If your Wi-Fi is also using a 5 GHz band, you should see it with the 2.4 GHz band.

QUICK TIP: If you have a hidden SSID, scroll all the way down the list and click Manually Enter Network Name and Password. Otherwise, wait until it detects your Wi-Fi.

Enter your Wi-Fi password in the field, then click Next.

You will be prompted to configure the extended wireless network that the range extender will be broadcasting. Change the settings as you prefer or leave the defaults as is, then click

QUICK TIP: The extended wireless network is the Wi-Fi that your range extender will broadcast for nearby clients to connect to.

Step 8:
Click Next if the Spot Finder indicates that the Linksys RE6700's location is Just right. This feature determines the signal strength between your range extender and your router. If your range extender is Too far or Too close, relocate it accordingly, then return to Step 1.

Create an admin password to secure your Linksys RE6700. Optionally, you may also add a password hint.

You should now have set up your Linksys RE6700.
