How to use the Access Control feature on your Linksys WAPT1200AC

Access Control enables you to allow or prevent wireless devices to connect to the Linksys WAPT1200AC AC1200 Wi-Fi Access Point.
 
This article will give you instructions on how to use and configure the Access Control feature of your Linksys WAPT1200AC.
 
Step 1:
Access your Linksys WAPT1200AC’s web-based setup page.  To know how, click here.
 
Step 2:
Click Wireless > Access Control.

Access Mode:
  • Allow - Only computers on the MAC Address filter list will have access to the wireless network.
  • Deny - Computers on the MAC Address filter list will NOT have access to the wireless network.
Add a Device:
  • Wireless Client - Displays computers and other devices currently on the wireless network.  Select a client from the list and click Save.
  • MAC Address - Manually enter a MAC Address and click Save.
NOTE:  After selecting a client or entering a MAC Address, make sure to click Save next to the field before clicking the Save button at the bottom.
 
Access Control List:
  • Displays all the MAC Addresses that you have added.
  • Click Edit to change the client's MAC Address.  The edited MAC Address will show in the MAC Address field.  If you want to remove this MAC Address item from the list, click Remove.
Step 3:
Click User-added image to apply changes.
 
NOTE:  If you set up MAC Filtering on your Linksys WAPT1200AC you must also set up MAC Filtering on your existing wireless router.  Otherwise, you are only allowing or preventing clients to connect to the Linksys WAPT1200AC.  Configuring the MAC Filter on the main wireless router or access point in your network is necessary to completely allow or prevent clients from connecting to the network.
