Manually setting up the Linksys WAPT1200AC to Access Point mode

This article will show you how to manually set up the Linksys WAPT1200AC AC1200 Wi-Fi Access Point.
 
Step 1:
Plug the Linksys WAPT1200AC into a wall outlet.
 
NOTE:  Wait for the Light Emitting Diode (LED) to change to amber.  To learn more about this device’s LED behavior, click here.
 
Step 2:
Connect a computer or a mobile device to the Linksys WAPT1200AC’s default SSID, which is Linksys AP Setup – xxx.
 
QUICK TIP:  xxx are the last three (3) characters of the access point’s MAC address.  The MAC address of your access point is located on the label at the back of the device. 
 
Step 3:
Open a web browser and enter "http://ap.linksys.com" or “192.168.1.1in the Address bar to launch setup.
 
Step 4:
Click the Manual Setup link to bypass the Setup Wizard.

Step 5:
Enter the default Password which is admin.

Step 6:
On Wireless > Basic Settings, enable your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Extended Wireless Settings by checking the Enabled boxes on each band.
 
Step 7:
Personalize your networks by entering a wireless network name and password in the Network Name (SSID) and Password fields for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Step 8:
Click on the drop down arrow for User-added image and select your desired wireless options for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
 
Step 9:
Click Save when you’re done.
 
NOTE:  The Linksys WAPT1200AC is by default in Access Point mode but it will not work properly until you plug in an Ethernet cable.  In order to change the mode to Range Extender mode, you will need to reset the Linksys WAPT1200AC and run the setup software.
