Using Site Survey on the Linksys WAPT1200AC

The Site Survey feature of your Linksys WAPT1200AC AC1200 Wi-Fi Access Point displays all the wireless networks within the range.  It also helps you determine where to properly place your Linksys WAPT1200AC between your wireless router and the area with poor signal.
 
NOTE:  The Site Survey is ONLY available if you’re Linksys WAPT1200AC is set up to work on Range Extender mode.  To know how, click here.
 
Follow the instructions below to learn how to use the Site Survey feature of the Linksys WAPT1200AC.
 
Step 1:
Open a browser to log in to the web-based setup page of your range extender.  For instructions, click here.
 
Step 2:
Under Wireless, click Site Survey.

The Site Survey page will then be displayed.

• Select - clicking the radio button beside the wireless network name (SSID) selects the SSID.
• SSID - displays the name of available wireless networks.
• GHz - indicates the radio band of available wireless networks.
• Signal - displays the relative position of the available networks within range by indicating the power of the wireless signal received.
 
QUICK TIP:  If a Signal with no green bar is displayed, the Linksys WAPT1200AC is located too far away from the router.  For optimum performance, place your Linksys WAPT1200AC near the router to keep the signal strength between 60% and 100%.
 
• Security - displays the security type used by available networks.  If a network supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS), the WPS User-added image icon is also displayed.
 
Associating the Linksys WAPT1200AC with an access point or router

Step 1:
Under Site Survey, click the radio button that corresponds to your wireless network name (SSID) and then, click Connect.

QUICK TIP:  You can click the User-added image button to scan for available wireless network and refresh the list.
 
Step 2:
Enter your wireless network password in the Passphrase field then click Connect.
 
NOTE:  The type of security information required in this screen should match your access point or router’s wireless security settings.  The wireless password is also case-sensitive.

Wait for the process to be completed.

You should now have successfully configured your Linksys WAPT1200AC with your wireless network.  You can proceed with connecting wireless computers and devices to get Internet access. 
 
QUICK TIP:  To know if your Linksys WAPT1200AC is connected to the network, click Status > WLAN Statistics.

The Network Name (SSID) should display your router’s wireless network name.

QUICK TIP:  If you encounter any issues, a firmware upgrade may resolve it.  You can download the latest firmware of your Linksys WAPT1200AC to ensure that you are using an updated version.  Search your model number from the Linksys Support Site and download the file.
