Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bridge Mode not worth the price. Purchased the MX8503 3-pack when it first came out. Firmware updates are rare which concerns me about security vulnerabilities. Had to put all three in Bridge Mode, otherwise the other IOT devices would not work well like Nest thermostat, and AppleTV's the way it segments the LAN. Bridge Mode disables all the fancy features that one buys a devices like this to use. This will be the last LinkSys product I buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ABYSMAL CUSTOMER AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT CASE NUMBER 03381090 DON’T PURCHASE ANY LINKSYS PRODUCT – ABYSMAL CUSTOMER AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND A FAILURE TO STAND BY IT PRODUCT WARRANTY Rarely do I ever post a review of a product or service but must do so under the circumstances surrounding the poor and unacceptable Technical and Customer support I have been provided by Linksys relating to a current issue with a 3 node Linksys 6E Tri Band Wi-Fi Mesh System (model MX8503) I purchased directly from Linksys in November, 2022. Although this system costs over $1,000 the Wi-Fi constantly drops, the nodes disconnect, and the system must be frequently reset. Notwithstanding these issues, I have been using the system until last week when one node disconnected and I could not reset it after multiple attempts to do so, so my only option then was to contact Linksys Technical Support. During my first call with Linksys Technical Support which is run out of the Philippines, I was prompted through multiple steps by what they call a “Level One” technical support person but after 1 hour and 45 minutes on a call was told by the Level One person that my issue needed to be escalated up to a “Level Two” support person. An hour later I was called by Linksys and spoke with a Level Two person who repeated all the steps that the Level One person had earlier taken me through, without any success. After another 1 hour and 15 minutes on the phone with this Level Two person I asked why it was necessary for the same steps be repeated and was told by the Level Two person that he had to do this to assure that the steps the Level One person had already performed would not correct the issue. I advised the Level Two person that now having spent 2 hours and 45 minutes on the phone I was not going to waste any more of my time on this issue and that Linksys should just replace the node under the 3-year warranty (the product is now less than 1 ½ years old). I was told that this could not be done without further diagnostics, so at that point I asked to speak with a supervisor or someone else. I was transferred to a woman by the name of Reg (Linksys ID no. 17946), who I spoke with for another 15 minutes. She was unapologetic for the process I had gone through and displayed a total lack of any compassion or willingness to try to resolve the issue in a reasonable way which would serve the customer. So, after being on the phone for 3 hours and 15 minutes I finally gave up and decided to try to bring this issue to someone at Linksys Corporate. I got on the Linksys site and tried to utilize the Customer Support Chat to see if I could reach someone other than Technical Support but was first directed to the same number as that I had earlier called. I specifically asked to have someone from Customer Support contact me, was told someone would and shortly thereafter was called by someone named Shan (Linksys ID no. 25375). Unfortunately, Shan was not in Customer Support but in Technical Support in the Philippines. I was told by Shan that I would need to continue to spend time on the phone with them to go through Linksys diagnosis “process.” I asked to speak with a higher up and was transferred to Elly (Linksys ID 25176) who was the first person at Linksys who understood the grave inconvenience I had already experienced, apologized, and said that she would recommend a replacement of the node. Although she told me that this would need to be signed off by her manager, she said “no problem” it will be approved under warranty and that someone would contact me in the next day to get the necessary information to send me the new node. After another 39 minutes on the phone (a total of over 3 hours and 45 minutes this one day) I felt that the matter had finally been resolved. Boy, was I wrong, as the next day I received a call from someone named Rod (Linksys ID no. 21337) who said that my case had been reviewed by the manager Elly had mentioned, that the replacement of the node had been denied by that manager, and that I would need to continue to work with a Level Two technical support person to further diagnose the issue before the node could be replaced under warranty. I was told that they could not commit to any time it would take to do this and didn’t disagree that I could be on the phone with them for hours longer before they would able to diagnose the problem in order for them to trigger the warranty . I asked to speak with the “manager” who made this decision, who was identified as Zi and described as an employee of Linksys who was the overall manager of the Philippine’s Technical support operation, but I was told that this was not possible. I tried to explain that during my prior call with Elly, she had committed to the replacement of the node so had obviously misinformed and lied to me about what would be done. At that point, after being on the phone another 20 minutes (now over 4 hours that day) I advised Rod that I would just deal with this by trying to contact Linksys corporate in California and through posting on various social media sites. Linksys DOES NOT stand behind its 3-year warranty on its products, doing everything in its power to force customers to go through a process which is excessively time-consuming and patently unreasonable. It is difficult to understand how anyone at Linksys would agree that having a consumer spend over 3 hours and 45 minutes on the phone attempting to diagnose an issue is reasonable or could in anyway be considered to be good (or even marginally good) customer service. CLEARLY LINKSYS IS ONLY INTERESTED IN ITS INTERESTS AND NOT THE INTEREST OF IT CUSTOMER, DOES EVERTHING IT CAN DO TO MAKE THE WARRANTY PROCESS AS DIFFICULT AS POSSIBLE, AND DOES NOT STAND BY ITS WARRANTY. SHAME ON LINKSYS!!!!! BEFORE PURCHASING ANY LINKSYS PRODUCT I ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ THE REVIEWS. THERE ARE MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE POSTS OF EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT. AS ONE REVIEWER NOTED……. “LINKSYS FRONT LINE TECH 'SUPPORT': ... is an *abomination* - terrible.” I AND OTHERS AGREE. I SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT, BUT DIDN’T AND REGRET NOT HAVING DONE SO. YOU CAN READ THE REVIEWS THROUGH THE BELOW LINK. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the money I bought the 3 pack and was constantly having WiFi drop. I thought I was losing connection from range (even though it’s advertised to cover the square feet of my house easily) so I purchased 2 more. I’m $1600.00 in this system now. Nodes constantly disconnect. WiFi drops from iPhones and iPads and all other moving devices. I spent about 25 hours troubleshooting with technical support. Including giving them remote access to my PC to troubleshoot the network. Reset the system multiple times and installed with their recommended specs. I have been working with their support team for weeks! They want to continue trouble shooting all of the time even though we’ve already troubleshooted everything. Now I’m waiting for approval to do a RMA. Meanwhile my WiFi has been absolutely terrible and both me and my wife work from home. I’ve always known linksys to have good products but this is not it at all. I can’t believe you can spend nearly $2k on a system and have terrible problems. I’ve worked in the IT industry for years so I’m pretty tech savvy. It shouldn’t take your company weeks to replace a faulty product. If I do get a replacement it will probably encounter the same problems. If you rely heavily on the internet don’t buy this. We have a hard time connecting to our baby monitor from our phones!!! Kids lose connection to online school work. It’s a shame you can spend so much money on a product that doesn’t perform as advertised. I have a fiber optic internet connection for reliability. Wish I could rely on functioning WiFi

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Product. I would not buy. I bought this system after researching the best mesh system for large home. I was willing to pay high dollar for quality. This product has been the worst I’ve ever purchased! I’ve researched troubleshooting but nothing works (I’m tech savvy so not complete idiot). Drops WiFi connects constantly. Appletv connection is lost multiple times during an evening (and it’s hardwired via Ethernet). I’ve just bought Asus system in hopes for better. I’ve owned many Linksys products over the years but this is my last for sure!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK but not value for the money I purchased this at the recommendation of Linksys. I got a "special deal: and I was in a hurry. I later found out that it is / was being replaced by a newer model and had been available for at least 5 years. The technical support is excellent and I would never attempt to set one up without their help. The two nodes did improve my coverage. However, it each node has no more range than the AT&T WiFi Modem that comes with the service. The are others for less that have newer chips, better coverage and lower costs. The application isn't that good. I had to resort to using my laptop and a web client to get it configured properly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Performance high price I have numerous Linksys Mesh products. Bought this 8 months ago looki g to increase speed. I made the 6E my parent node and have had nothing but issues, extremely disappointed. The 6e signal only holds to my Fold 5 phone if i am withi. 10 feet, kids (16&17) continually complain about how slow the network is. Love the past products for this the extremely high price looking to move on to another manufacturer for WIFI 7.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mobile app! I’ve owned 2 of these nodes for a couple years now and am very happy with the network mesh! Combined with AT&T gigabit internet, I’m very happy with the results. As a developer I was working from home 8-10 hours a day, and I have yet to have a single issue with the either node. Just set up auto updates and forget it, I highly recommend if it’s in your budget :)

I would like the Max6E to work as simple access points. It would connected to the home network using cables and do not require wifi-to-wifi mesh capabilities. I've read that it supports traditional bridging so I'm assuming this can be done?

Asked by: hansangb
Please note that only the parent router will get connected to the Internet port. The child router LAN port should connect to the parent router LAN port. Do not use the child router Internet port.

Can an MR7500 Router be the parent to these?

Asked by: rmclipper
MR7500 is WiFi6E, too. It is good to use it as parent and the MX-8503 as nodes for aesthetics.

what ghz is the guest network? i assume its the 5 or 6? i purchased this because my old router was 5ghz except guest network only ran at 2.4ghz which is virtually useless if you got newer devices, i hope this corrects that issue.

Asked by: bikeman5
It depends on your device. If it is WiFi 6E-capable, it will connect to the 6Ghz band.

It has the ability to set up a second “guest” network with a separate password, but it shares the same uplink, obviously.
