Setting up the first or primary node of your Velop system with an iOS device

Setting up the Linksys Velop Intelligent Mesh WiFi System is easy through the Linksys app.  The Linksys app automatically identifies the nodes to be set up and it provides an animated setup guide explaining the entire process.  In addition, each node has an integrated Bluetooth® radio, making the setup process secure, seamless, and simple.  Follow the steps below to learn how to set up your first node using an iOS device.


Requirements:
  1. The latest mobile Linksys app from the App Store®
  2. A smartphone or tablet with iOS 9.1.0 or later
  3. An active internet connection from a modem or modem router (gateway)


Directions
 
Step 1:
Launch the Linksys app.

Tap Launch setup.

NOTE:  If you have an existing Linksys cloud account, you can Log in and go to Set Up a New Product > Set Up a New Velop System.

Step 3:
You will be prompted to turn ON the Bluetooth on your iOS device or iPhone®.  Bluetooth is used for setup purposes only.  Follow the instruction on the screen to turn ON Bluetooth.

Step 4:
Read the Terms and Conditions agreement and tap Agree to continue.

Step 5:
Setup will look for your node.

Step 6:
Once your node has been found, tap Next.

NOTE:  If the node is not found, you may be prompted to select what type of device you are setting up.  Make sure to select Velop Whole Home WiFi.

Step 7:
Setup will now check for your internet connection.

NOTE:  Setup might ask you to connect to your node’s Wi-Fi.  Follow the instructions provided on the screen.

Step 8:
When 
internet is detected, you may proceed to Step 15.  If internet is NOT detected, you will be asked to check a series of wiring connection from your modem to your router.

Step 9:
Tap the boxes as you complete checking the series of wiring connection.  Then, tap Next.

Step 10:
Setup will now ask you to perform a quick restart for your modem.  If you don't need to enter any ISP settings, tap Next.  If you opt to enter ISP settings, tap Do you have ISP settings to enter? below Next.

IMPORTANT:  If your ISP setting is Static IP, PPPoE or PPPoE over VLAN, you will be asked to enter these settings manually.  If you would just like to proceed without
internet connection, tap Skip, and continue without internet.

Step 11:
To perform a quick restart for your modem, you will be asked to unplug your modem.  Unplug your modem and tap It's Unplugged to proceed.

Step 12:
Make sure the lights on your modem are all turned off.  Tap Lights Are Off to proceed.

You will be asked to give your modem time to fully disconnect from your ISP.  Wait for 2 minutes.

Step 13:
After 2 minutes, plug your modem / modem-router back in.  Tap It's Plugged In when done.

Wait for your modem to completely start up.  This could take 2 minutes.

Step 14:
A Completed screen will appear once startup is done.  Tap the Next button.

Step 15:

Create a Linksys cloud account by entering an Email Address and Password in the fields provided.  Tap Create Account to proceed.  If you already have an account, tap Log in here

Setup will link your account.  Wait for at least 1 minute.

After linking, setup will create login access.

Step 16:
Personalize your home Wi-Fi by creating a Wi-Fi name and password.  Once done, tap Next.

If you are prompted to connect to your new Wi-Fi name, go to your mobile phone's Settings > Wi-Fi and connect to your new Velop Wi-Fi name.  If you closed the Linksys app, reopen it to continue the setup.
 
Step 17:
The app will now configure your Velop network.

Step 18:
Give your node a name then tap Next.

NOTE:  It is recommended that the location name corresponds to the actual location of your node in the home.  This will allow you to better identify multiple nodes through the Linksys app.  To customize the name, tap Name it something else.
 
Step 19:
On the Success! screen, tap Next.

NOTE:  If you want to add a node, tap Add Another Node.  Otherwise, tap That’s it for Now.  You can also add a node later by logging in to the Velop dashboard.  For instructions, click here.

Step 20:
Once the Always fresh screen appears, tap Next.

The node will do a firmware check to see if your node is up-to-date.  If a new firmware is available, the app will update automatically.  Otherwise, you will land on the Your Wi-Fi is ready screen.

IMPORTANT:  After setting up your node, change the Velop’s admin password.  A random, secure admin password was created during setup (this password will not be displayed).  Use the admin password to log in to your Velop system if you don’t have an internet connection or if the server is temporarily down for maintenance.  To learn how to change the admin password, click here
