Resetting the Linksys ADSL gateway to factory default
The ADSL gateway can be set to factory default in two (2) ways:
• Pressing the Reset button
• Resetting the ADSL gateway using the web-based setup page
QUICK TIP: Any changes made on the gateway will be erased and the gateway’s IP address will become “192.168.1.1” and “admin” will be its username and password. It is recommended that you backup the current settings of your ADSL gateway before resetting. To learn how to backup and restore your ADSL gateway, click here.
This article will discuss the two (2) ways of resetting your ADSL gateway.
Pressing the Reset button
Depending on the model of your ADSL gateway, you can find the Reset button on either of the following locations:
• Back panel of the ADSL gateway
• Bottom panel of the ADSL gateway
Resetting the ADSL gateway using the web-based setup page
Access the gateway’s web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.
NOTE: If you are using Mac to access the gateway's web-based setup page, click here.
Click the Administration tab, then click the Factory Defaults sub-tab.
NOTE: The image will vary depending on the model of your ADSL gateway.
For X-Series ADSL gateways:
For WAG series ADSL gateways:
Click Restore Factory Defaults.
You will get a prompt warning you that the reset process will erase all previous settings. Click OK to continue.
Once the Settings are successful prompt appears, click Continue.
Power OFF your router for 30 seconds, then power it back ON.
Once you have successfully reset your gateway, you will need to reconfigure the router again.
