Encountering problems accessing the gateway’s web-based setup page can be due to the following reasons:
• Proper connection to the gateway is not established
• Incorrect IP address
To resolve this, try performing the following steps:
i. Powercycle the gateway
ii. Check the physical connections
iii. Check the LEDs on the gateway
iv. Check the computer’s IP address
v. Check the computer’s connectivity to the gateway
vi. Check the browser’s cache settings
Power OFF the gateway for 10 seconds then switch it back ON. The Power LED will flash for a few seconds as the gateway goes through its self-diagnostic mode. When the gateway is ready, the Power
LED will be continuously lit. After making sure that the gateway is ready, restart your computer.
If this still doesn’t resolve the issue, you may proceed to checking your network’s physical connections.
Check the physical connections
QUICK TIP: It is recommended to access the gateway’s web-based setup page using a wired computer for more stable connectivity.
Ensure that the devices are connected properly. Connect the modem to the gateway’s DSL or Cable port and the computer to any of the numbered Ethernet ports. If you still can’t access the gateway’s web-based setup page, check the gateway’s LEDs.
If there is a computer that is connected to one of the Ethernet ports at the back of the Linksys gateway, the corresponding Ethernet LED at the front should also be lit. Also, make sure that the Power
LED is continuously lit and not blinking.
Check the computer’s IP address
Checking the computer’s IP address is another way to determine if the computer is getting a valid IP address from the Linksys gateway. To check the computer’s IP address, click here.
If your computer has a Static IP address, set it to obtain an IP address automatically. To learn how, click here.
Check the computer’s connectivity to the gateway
Ping test helps trace the communication between the computer and the gateway. The computer sends packets to the gateway and in return the gateway sends out replies to validate the connection. If you’re using a Mac computer, click here.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to get four (4) replies namely, Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss).
Check the browser’s cache settings
After doing all the steps above and you’re still unable to access the Internet, make sure that the Internet browser’s cache settings are cleared. Click on the link below that is applicable to your browser:
