How to check and configure the IP address of a Linksys Ethernet bridge or media connector
This article will teach you how to check and configure the IP address of your Linksys Ethernet bridge or media connector.
IMPORTANT: When not connected to a network with a router or access point with a DHCP server feature, the default IP addresses of Linksys media connector and wireless bridges are:
WES610N v1: 169.254.1.250
WES610N v2: 10.100.1.1
NOTE: You can use the following IP addresses mentioned above if your wireless bridge or media connector is connected directly to your computer using an Ethernet cable.
However, if your wireless bridge or media connector is connected to a network through a DHCP server, follow these steps:
To learn how to check the IP address of your media connector or bridge using the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account, click here.
Click the Status tab.
Click on the Local Network sub-tab then click on the DHCP Client Table button.
A separate window will open for the DHCP Client Table. Search for your device in the Client Name column then take note of the media connector or bridge’s IP address. Click Close to exit the window.
NOTE: The Linksys WET610N wireless bridge is used in this example.
You should have successfully checked the IP address of your Linksys media connector or bridge now.
To manually configure your wireless bridge’s network settings, select Static IP and enter the following:
- Static IP Address: Enter the device’s IP address and make sure that it is on the same Local Area Network (LAN) segment as the router. In the example below, we used 192.168.1.15.
- Subnet Mask: Enter the Subnet Mask, which should match the subnet mask of the router. The default Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0.
- Default Gateway: Enter your router’s IP address. The default IP address of a Linksys router is 192.168.1.1.
Click the button.
