- Accessing the Wireless Network Site Survey feature
The Linksys wireless Ethernet bridge and wireless media connector has the capability to scan for available wireless networks through the Wireless Network Site Survey feature. This article will guide you on how to use this feature.
NOTE: This article assumes that you have a Linksys wireless router setup. Also, ensure that the bridge or media connector is within three (3) feet of your wireless router when setting it up.
Before you begin with the process, make sure that your wireless bridge is physically connected to your computer using an Ethernet cable.
IMPORTANT: For those routers with disabled SSID Broadcast, the Wireless Network Site Survey will not be able to detect their wireless network.
Access the web-based setup page of your wireless bridge. For instructions, click here.
On the setup page, click the Wireless tab > Wireless Network Site Survey sub-tab.
QUICK TIP: For the WET54G, Wireless Network Site Survey is referred to as Wireless Site Survey.
For the WET54G, look for the Wireless section found under the Setup tab then click the Site Survey button.
The Wireless Network Site Survey feature will then scan for available networks. A table will appear, listing down all the wireless networks available.
NOTE: If you do not see your wireless network listed, click the button. If you still cannot see your wireless network, ensure that your network’s SSID Broadcast feature is set to Enabled.
IMPORTANT: If the feature is unable to provide a list, it could possibly mean that there are no available wireless networks that you can connect to. To resolve this, you may place your bridge or media connector closer to the router so that it could detect the existing wireless networks available. After making the necessary adjustments, click the Refresh button.
Once you have seen your wireless network, click on the radio button next to your network’s name and click the Connect button.
You will be then asked for your wireless network’s password or passphrase. Enter your passphrase on the given field then click Connect.
NOTE: Ensure that the wireless settings you enter should be exactly the same as the wireless settings of the router. To check the wireless settings of your router, click here. If you are using the Linksys Connect software, click here.
A progress bar will then appear. You will be immediately notified if the connection is successful.
The wireless Ethernet bridge should now be connected to your network.
