Resolving LED issues when using a Powerline Fast Ethernet Adapter
What is Powerline networking and how does it work?
Powerline networking is a way to extend your computer network using the electrical outlets at home. This works by adding a Powerline adapter to your network. Setting up a Powerline network requires a set of Powerline adapters connected to each electrical outlet where the network extension is needed.
Powerline Fast Ethernet Adapters

NOTE: The PLEK400 Powerline 1-port Fast Ethernet Adapter Kit contains two (2) PLE400 Powerline 1-port Fast Ethernet Adapters while the PLSK400 Powerline 4-port Fast Ethernet Adapter Kit contains one (1) PLE400 Powerline 1-port Fast Ethernet Adapter and one (1) PLS400 Powerline 4-port Fast Ethernet Adapter.

The following are some of the LED issues you may encounter when using a Powerline adapter and steps for initial troubleshooting:
None of the LEDs turn ON after you installed the Powerline adapter
To resolve this, follow these instructions:
Disconnect the adapter from the power outlet.
Disconnect the Ethernet network cable from the adapter.
Wait for five (5) seconds.
Re-connect the Ethernet network cable to the adapter.
Reconnect the adapter to the power outlet.
NOTE: If this solution does not work, make sure that the electrical outlet is working properly. Plug a different device into the outlet, and try to turn it ON.
The Ethernet LED does not light up on the Powerline adapter
When the Ethernet port detects a local network connection, the Ethernet LED should turn ON. To resolve this, follow these instructions:
Make sure that the Ethernet network cable is securely connected to the adapter.
Make sure that the Ethernet network cable is securely connected to the computer or other network device.
Make sure that the Ethernet adapter on your computer is working properly. Refer to Windows Help for more information.
You cannot connect to other computers on your local network or to the Internet
If you did not set up advanced security for the Powerline network, follow these instructions:
Locate the Powerline adapter connected to the computer that is unable to access the local network or the Internet.
Use a pointed object to press and hold the Standby/Reset button for at least 10 seconds. This resets the adapter to its factory default settings.
NOTE: The Standby/Reset button's location may vary depending on the device.
If you have set up advanced security for the Powerline network, check the following:
- Make sure all adapters on the Powerline network have been configured with the same network password. The network password must be identical in order for them to communicate with each other.
- When adding a new adapter to a pre-existing Powerline network, use a unique network password configured on the Powerline AV Utility.
