Rated 1 out of 5 by from Range extender 9000 Tried WPS setup, no go. Tried manual setup multiple times, limited success connecting, no discernible increase in speed. Would actually like a refund if you will take the product back- please advise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well My old RE died. I replaced with this one. It's even faster than the old one and works very well. There was one thing that stumped me on the setup. By default it will not a see 2.4 ghz network only a 5 ghz. This is due to a default setting that I found out later through support that can be turned off. This still worked and believe is the reason for the speed increase. I'm very pleased with it.

The four ethernet ports in the back, are they all meant to connect to devices or can they also be used to connect this to the main router?

Asked by: Shane4
There are 4 device ports and 1 port for connections to the router.  Hope this helps.

2. How does the Wi-Fi coverage of this unit compare to the wrt3200acm. If I connect to this unit via cat 6 from the wrt3200acm and turn off Wi-Fi on the wrt3200acm will my Wi-Fi coverage better in a single store house.

Asked by: Zed1
I think the coverage of the RE is better/stronger than that of the WRT. I purchased the RE because I was getting spotty connection with the TV I have in the basement of the house. I have the WRT located in the study at one end of the house and the RE is located across the first floor, almost at the other end, The basement TV is actually closer to the WRT side of the house, but gets better signal from the RE. I have WIFI operating on both units. That way I didn't have to reconnect anything that already worked well with the WRT. The network names are slightly different (RE adds an "_ext" to the network name), but everything is on the same actual network. I have the RE connected to the WRT by wifi. I'm not using a hardwire connection and everything works fine.

I have  a wrt3200acm. I have a house and a shed approx 35 meters from the house on relatively flat ground. Should I connect. 1xre9000 in the house via cat6 in extend mode and the shed unit bridge to maximize coverage. Will I get better cover this way?

Asked by: Zed1
Yes, you should connect the range extender to the primary router with cable.  I have a 2800 square foot house.  I have an EA9500 max stream and two RE9000 range extenders.  I connected one RE9000 by cat cable and it worked flawlessly.  I then connected the other by wireless mode in my garage and it was constantly dropping the signal.  I switched that one to a cat cable and it has performed flawlessly ever since.

1. I have a wrt3200acm router will this unit work effectively with this unit and provide seamless connectivity across wi fi zones if the unit is configured as a wi fi booster on Wi-Fi connection only.

Asked by: Zed1
I have a 6,100 square Bed & Breakfast and have 3 routers set up and have no problem with good coverage in any location.

*Maximum performance derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual performance can vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, speed, range, and coverage. Performance depends on many factors, conditions, and variables, including distance from the access point, volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, operating system used, mix of wireless products used, interference, and other adverse conditions. In order to achieve the best performance, this product must be used with compatible AC3000 wireless devices.

†The standard transmission rates of both 5 GHz radios—1733 Mbps + 867 Mbps—are up to 3x faster physical data rates when compared to dual-band AC1200 range extenders with one 5 GHz radio speed of 867 Mbps. To achieve these speeds, this range extender requires a 5 GHz connection to the router.

**Seamless Roaming is designed for devices that support the 802.11k standard, including but not limited to, iPhone (4s and later), iPad Pro, iPad Air and later, iPad mini and later, iPad (3rd generation and later), iPod touch (5th generation and later), Samsung S4 (Android 4.2.2 /4.4.2), Samsung S5 (Android 4.4.2), and Samsung S6 (Android 5.0.2). For more information on supported Windows® and other devices, please check with your device manufacturer. Seamless Roaming may require the latest Max-Stream firmware. Please check the support page of your Max-Stream Router for more details.

§Range specifications are based on performance test results under normal use case conditions. Actual ranges will increase or decrease depending on wireless obstructions, operating environments, and building material. Wireless coverage claims are used only as reference and are not guaranteed as each wireless network is unique.

Push Button Connect works with devices that support Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ like Linksys Wireless-AC routers and others.
