Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Easy to setup (IPsec and VLan) and works! After 3 weeks of frustration challenging with Cisco ASDM trying to setup an IPsec connection (to 3rd party company giving service to us) without any success (small network but little special setup due to failover and security). I bought a linksys LRT214 and unbelievably the whole setup was done in minutes! Since then, expanding connections and other changes has been done in a breeze. GUI is intuitive and straight forward. I have small network. But has everything on it including multiple web servers, db server, remote access,... LRT214 does the job perfectly. Currently have 2 of them on our network.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from unresponsive & network outage every few days Similar to several other reviews here and on amazon, I have had only trouble with this device that I installed new in July of 2020. At best it operates for about a week, and at worst less than one day without hang-up requiring power-off restart. The Web GUI interface becomes unavailable and router traffic to outside internet stops. The built-in DHCP server does not respond to new client requests. Power off-on restart is needed. no indication in the device logs of trouble. Working with tech support, we tried to replace the device with the same model running the latest firmware release. The new device also behaves unreliably. I suspect a firmware flaw. Linksys Tech support wants me to operate this device with just one client "and see if the problem returns." That is not practical for real-world home office use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features, if you know how to configure them I'd been having trouble with an old Netgear VPN (it was a gift) and decided it was time for an upgrade. As all my other equipment is Linksys, a brand which I have loved and used for years, I naturally sought a replacement from them. I bought the product through Amazon and it arrived new, in box and on time. Setting up the router seemed straight forward enough. I used a crossover cable and connecting to my laptop to get the basic config done for my internal network settings (I have a home network with three WAPs and 34 devices connected via WiFi and CAT5). Once complete I brought the unit to my central connection point and swapped out the Netgear for my shiny, new Linksys. I could connect to the LRT214 interface from wired and wireless devices but had to Internet access. I checked and rechecked all the settings, then in desperation (two hours with no Internet) I changed a single setting - from "Router" to "Gateway". Internet started working and my connection speeds are exactly what I'm paying for. I'm very happy with the device and will (eventually) spend time reading the full manual to figure out why having the unit set as a Router wasn't working. For now, all is well with my network again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Vulnerable to hackers Don't get this router if you're going to setup as a PPTP VPN server. I had it setup as a PPTP VPN server and hackers would always hang it up so that my users were unable to create VPN connections to it. To its credit, whenever the VPN server was hung up, the local office users were still able to browse the Internet and everything, but remote users were unable to connect until someone in the office power off (and then powered on) the LRT214. Also, when it was hung up, the Web GUI interface from the LAN side would also be unresponsive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from High Expectations. Low delivery I bought my original LRT21 from amazon. I was attempting to do a simple Client to Gateway VPN setup, and support couldn't figure out why it kept disconnecting. So they suggested an RMA, which I did, and after receiving my replacement, I am in the same situation. I let engineering deal with my original ticket while I opened another one on a different issue: LAN to LAN connectivity between different devices. One would think basic connectivity between switch ports is an easy thing. Nope. My second router (non Linksys) can PING and see the LRT on the other side of it's switch cable, but the LRT cannot see the non-Linksys router. For a business class device, this product falls far short of expectations. *This review is in no way a reflection of Linksys support. They were quite patient, even when I was not.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from VPN setup is tricky and you lose internet often I purchased this unit 2 months ago. At that time I had read great reviews that said that the unit is reliable. I needed to use the VPN for about 20 people. well here is a surprise. You can set up OpenVPN accounts for 25 people, but Only 5 can connect at any time. This little fact is not documented anywhere in the Specs. Anyways there is another shrewsoft software and with a few hours spent doing customer support over a period of sevral days, it was possible to get shrewsoft working. Unfortunately, though the router then worked for a few weeks and then started to die every day or every few hours, sometimes less than 10 minutes. Technical support wanted me to put it behind a different router so that it used DHCP instead of static IP. I have asked for a RMA. But looking at other reviews here, I doubt the replacement will work either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zero Problems Have two LRT214's on my corporate network for over two years now and have had ZERO problems, ZERO downtime related to them. Easy to configure, flexible and the OpenVPN works great. We are using all 5 OpenVPN tunnels on each one. Never had a problem. Highly recommended for small to medium high traffic networks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This router is junk There is an issue that has occurred after having the router for 10 months, now it freezes and takes down the network roughly 1-2 times a week. This is clearly a firmware issue, but it seems that nothing has been done about it, and nothing will be done about it. This is also my 3rd replacement router with this same issue.
