Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product, poor redesign. I own 3 of the older, rear-port, SE3005 v1. The “front port only” redesign of the entire Linksys Ethernet switch line was a poor decision. I get that in some situations, front ports are useful, but like someone else said, it puts strain on the cables. I think, for the smaller models (5-port and 8-port home consumer models), offer a choice (front OR rear facing ports). Rear facing ports is a better design for a small desktop Ethernet switch.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inconsistent coverage. Frequently disconnects and had better coverage with a lower end cheaper non mesh router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with it! Works as expected. Setup was very easy and didn't lose any speed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design Older design was better it had all the Ethernet ports and the power input on the same side. The new design had Ethernet ports in from and power input in the back which makes it very awkward to place without putting strain on the Ethernet cables or power cord. Not only is it a poor design. The new Ethernet LED’s are obnoxiously bright in a well LIT room. These LEDs could probably give a Christmas ambiance but in a theater or game room that’s annoying seeing a bright green glow. The product performs like the previous design, but the previous design was better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wasted my money. I can't get this SE6005 v2 switch to do what I thought it would. No manual. There's not much instructions that came with it, like how to connect your ethernet cables. No cable was included, by the way. Do I need CAT5, CAT5E or CAT 6? What port does the modem cable plug into? I'm supposed to get 200mbs from my provider, which I do if I go straight to my computer. My router handles only 100mbs. I am trying to go thru the switch to 3 wired computers and to another device thru the router by wireless. Can't figure it out and didn't get much help.

I was using an Eero Pro 6E as my router and ran an ethernet line to my iMac. Just shy of 1Gb download. Still using the Eero as my router, I now run that line to Port 1. I connect my iMac and MacBook Pro. Full speed on MacBook Pro and iMac is half.

If I have a Netgear modem on the third floor up my home, could I get better coverage on the first floors using one of your switches?  Without running cable from my modem to a switch of yours.

Asked by: Tj. Rock
You have a few options if you want to improve connectivity on your first floor. First you could try to use a power line networking adapter Linksys sells one I use it and it works very well. Or you could add a mesh networking system which I am also using that would be the easiest method you may need a three station system for a three story house but you would stick the primary node connected to you modem on 3 then a daughter node on 2 and another on 1 the on one you can use the built in switch to hard wire several devices to it. Honestly you BEST bet is to pull a cable but I know that is not always easy to do but at least you have several options! Good luck!
