Rated 2 out of 5 by from Budget router with slow WAN i bought this today for my daughter and am very disappointed that in today's world of gig internet, they couldn't spend an extra $1 to add a 1gb WAN connection. What that means is, your lowest cable internet connection of 200mb+ is wasted because this device is capped at 100mb. What's the point of having 867mb wireless AC if you cap the internet connection at 100mb? Routers are dirt cheap especially with no utm features. I will be returning this for a 1gb router for $40. As a side note, this is about as easy as it gets to setup and if your internet connection is somehow lower than 100mb, this would work fine for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good travel router, lacks "repeater" functionality Bought this when the hotel's WiFi was unusable but they provided ethernet jacks in the rooms, so I set up my own WiFi. Worked great for that. On a different trip, stayed at a place where there are no accessible ethernet jacks and the WiFi signal is very weak in certain rooms. I wanted put this router where the WiFi signal was strongest and set it up in repeater mode so we'd have a strong signal everywhere. Unfortunately, I found out that this router lacks repeater/extender functionality and it appears there is no third party firmware (such as openwrt or ddwrt) for this model, which makes it only a "good" travel router for me, vs. "great".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We Could Not Be More Happy With This Router Though we have not had the Linksys WiFi Router Dual-Band AC1200 installed for a very long period of time, we are extremely pleased with the operation of this router so far. It was very easy to install and set-up. We have a 2500 square-foot 2-story house and approximately a 1/4 acre yard, and we comfortably get wifi coverage wherever we need it. We have 13 separate devices throughout our home that are connected to the router and the signal is strong and constant. We have experienced no issues thus far that would discourage us from recommending this product to our friends and family.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Drops both WiFi and Ethernet after a while. Bought it at the store, hooked it up, everything worked fine. Two hours later, both WiFi and Ethernet cut out. Ethernet on Windows showed "No Valid IP Address." Factory reset the modem, worked fine for an hour. Contacted Linksys tech support who instructed me to change some values on the router. Worked fine for another hour before once again dropping all internet. Hooked my computer straight to the modem; flawless internet, so problem wasn't the cable. Spent another hour with tech support who couldn't solve the problem. This was my first Linksys; going back to Netgear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wish it had Gigabit ports Setting up the router was as easy as could be. The instructions were clear and simple, and the router worked perfectly out the box. On the negative side, with most homes having fast than 100 mbit Internet connections, this router puts a significant crimp in performance. Additionally, this device cannot be used a either a WAP or a wireless repeater, making it only usable as a router.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good basic AC1200 Router The router is good for entry level/basic needs. The setup of the router was painless and easy to configure. You can use the Smart setup feature, or you can set it up manually. Manual setup is not documented well but if you Google it, you'll find references online on how to do a manual setup. This is a good device for a user who has a few devices such as a phone and a smart TV to connect. If you want to game, stream music, and have several connected TVs all in use simultaneously, you should probably look at a faster device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A GREAT value priced router The Linksys WiFi Router Dual-Band AC1200 (WiFi 5) E5400 Router is a solid performing router that handles numerous devices across its bands simultaneously. Over the years, I have experimented with countless numbers of routers. This is by far one of the easiest to set up I have ever experienced. Upon receiving this I plugged it in and entered into the web browser. There is a wizard to guide you through the setup, but as a DSL user I prefer to do it all manually. After entering my PPPoE (DSL) credentials I was connected to the internet (cable customers will probably NOT have to enter credentials). Fiber users take note the router supports VLAN tagging. This is one of the newest routers utilizing the NEW wifi naming scheme. Supported are: Wi-Fi 4 was previously referred to as 802.11n technology – most people will have some networking gear based on 802.11n, but it was replaced by 802.11ac. Wi-Fi 5 was previously referred to as 802.11ac technology – this is essentially the current generation of wifi. The older standards 802.11 a/b are also supported. What this device is not and what it is: It is not a ultra high performance gaming router with 4 or 8 gigabit LAN ports, a gigantic footprint, tons of antennas and lights, and a multicore processor. It is not priced that way either. It is a GREAT value, providing more bandwidth than most families can utilize. The Linksys WiFi Router Dual-Band AC1200 (WiFi 5) provides 4 fast ethernet ports and wifi speeds of N300 mbps and AC867 mbps (more than sufficient for streaming YouTube TV and MLB TV, while web surfing at the same time). The new Web Interface layout makes for easy setup and configuration and the small footprint makes it easy to deploy anywhere in the home. This would be the perfect device to replace the router your ISP charges $10.00 a month for. Note: in many instances you will need a cable / dsl modem. This unit was tested with 2 Android phones, 2 Rokus, and tablet, and 2 computers. There were no issues with any of the devices. In general, T3ch5upp0rt would highly recommend this router to meet the needs of a small to mid sized home with common internet streaming and utilization. Linksys provided this product free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality device The AC1200 is a basic wifi router that has all the features that a home user would need. It's simple to configure, has parental controls, etc. The wifi signal was strong and stable during my testing. My only suggestion is that they should have some indicator lights to show if the device is getting an internet signal, if wifi is enabled, etc. The only lights on it are for the lan and internet ports, and they're hard to see when you have several network cables plugged into it.
