Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic WiFi coverage My girlfriend has an apartment that we couldn’t receive cell signal and WiFi signal degraded from one room to another. Couldn’t use Netflix or wireless gaming consoles. I have blast from Comcast and a linksys modem and older router. I got this router with the mesh node and bought a velop 2 station mesh system So main router in bedroom with node that comes with system and a velop node in other two rooms. Awesome wired speeds but big surprise. All wireless devices including cell phone on WiFi calling work. Outstanding product. Both system and extra velop nodes you can buy worth every penny. This mesh system with gaming features a homerun for linksys.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good enough router, but seems BETA I got the router to add to my VELOP setup, which I am a big fan of. However, adding this router has degraded my setup. I have three VELOP nodes and two gigabit switches. This router was supposed to add the "switch-like" capability along with a USB port. To me, that would mean taking out the two switches and a NAS device. I only found out later that the USB port is NOT functional. It doesn't work as of today, February 18, 2019. Support can't help here. Only a firmware update to enable the USB port to fix this. ALSO, Linksys Shield seemed like a wonderful addition to my household because I have about 30 devices connected and three kids. I was hoping to add an additional layer of security for my kids, but Linksys Shield IS NOT compatible with the MR8300. Ugh. Here I am WANTING to be a customer and I can't. I'm already sold on the service, but I can't be a customer because this MR8300 is REQUIRED to be the main router in your setup if you have VELOP nodes. So, yes, this seems BETA to me. If they fix the Linksys Shield compatibility and enable the USB port, I would be back in business and life would be wonderful. In the meantime, I can't recommend the product as is. Linksys, please don't reply to this review and ask me to contact support because I already have. Only a firmware update will fix this. Only contact me if a firmware update is available so I can update this review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Performance I recently upgraded from a Velop mesh system to this system and setup was almost identical to setting up the Linksys Velop system using the Linksys Smart Wifi App. Setup took me about 15 minutes from start to finish of unplugging old router and getting the new one set up. My system also came with a Velop wireless node to improve coverage which indeed it did in my home. My home is a 1900 sq ft home built in the late 2000s so wifi has never been an issue with me coverage wise. This system covers me in all areas of my home including my backyard with the same great coverage and speed. This router offers excellent performance in such a small setup. I would definitely recommend this router to anyone looking for an upgrade. I've had no issues with lag with streaming as well as gaming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MESH Router, 4 Gigabit Ethernet, 1 USB 3.0 @433mbp I postponed this review for a few months to thoroughly evaluate the 8300/AC2200/Mu-MIMO in my 9,800 S/f HomeOffice under 3 different scenarios: (1) The MR8300 with the Linksys Velop extender, (2) The MR8300, with the Linksys Velop AC2600 (2 pack) & the Linksys Velop Extender, (3) The MR8300, with the Linksys Velop AC6600 (4 Pack) & the Linksys Velop Extender. Executive Summary: The Linksys MR8300 has 4 Gigabit Ethernet & 1 USB 3.0 ports incorporated into this Router. It's long in the waiting for Router mfgs. to finally realize this absolute need to Build-in these much needed Gigabit ports which allows additional hardware like printers, computers, other networks and even additional Routers to massively expand your network to whatever depth and breadth your mind desires to take you...or your budget dictates. Expand your networks, your business, limited only by your budget and desire. General Note: All the product evaluations were done at 433 Mbps ISP linkage at 2.4GHz& 5GHz IPv4 & IPv6 addresses, with full operation of 20-25+ network devices (Nodes), including (7) alternating live wireless streaming video cameras dispersed over 3 levels of office including outdoor cameras, numerous interconnected wireless cell phones minimally 4 constant connects, 8 wireless voice Assistant speakers, 2 Intelligent wireless Thermostats, 2 Direct Gigabit Ethernet connected laser printers, 4 wireless printers on 2 different floor levels, 4 wireless streaming TV's one of which is 8K, 14 occasionally off-line devices both wireless & Gigabit wired to additional non-Linksys products, 1 old Linksys AC1200 Router for occasional Bridge use as a Network Storage device Gateway. Got to have immediate on-line backup. Actually the Gigabit port from the Linksys MR8300 Router provides Gigabit connections to the previously non-Gigabit Linksys AC1200 Router, which we use as the on-line network backup device. In-order to evaluate these various configurations, I have to tear down our current functional network and build a new network based on configurations 1,2, & 3 and thoroughly test each network using as many of our devices as possible and still maintain our business operation. End of Summary. 1. The MR8300 with the Linksys Velop Extender. *I was given these devices to evaluate from Linksys. My EVALUATION was required for this configuration only. Sections 2 and 3 are NOT part of the Linksys required evaluate. I continued my evaluation into evaluations 2 & 3 since these configurations are what I NEED to run my business over our nearly 10,000s/f small office/home office SOHO. I thought, who throttled down the Linksys Extender, why only a Dual Band; obviously it had to be Price. Note to Linksys remake the Extender a Tri-Band configuration, why slow down this really nice (competitively priced) Velop system? This configuration worked well for my systems one one floor ~2,500+s/f hindered by concrete, drywall & vast array of other electronics. Second Floor....Signals were weak, good for Cell Phone file transfers, which successfully worked. Wireless printing worked ok but sometimes lost wireless connections. My thoughts were, might the connections been adequate to go a few hundred more feet, IF the Extender were a Tri-Band? Was the Extender (2.4 GHz) causing degradation...my bet is yes. So lets make a Tri-Band Extender please. 2. The MR8300, with the Linksys Velop AC2600 (2 pack) & the Linksys Velop Extender. Pretty good configuration, fairly inexpensive, integrated fairly well, sometimes necessary to restart Router or connect to better Channels when adding/moving equipment. This configuration worked very well over 2 floors, the TV's on 2 floors streamed well as did some of the cameras. We liked this configuration. Very good for 3,00 -3,500 sf operation. 3. The MR8300, with the Linksys Velop AC6600 (4 Pack) & the Linksys Velop Extender. Very nice, the connections worked almost perfectly over the nearly 10,000 s/f home/office area. We did have occasional connectivity problems and lost signal the first day, due to determining the TRUE coverage and configuration requirements to provide us with full functionality. We had to configure and reconfigure and let the Router select better Channels for faster Throughput; eventually we got it running very good even with connectivity outside the building for cell and live video streaming of video security cameras. A super good configuration for our office. I can help but comment on the inherent problems the Linksys Dual Band Velop Extender seemingly presents characteristic it its lack of a true MESH 3rd band Technology. We solved the outdoor communication problems by moving the Linksys Dual Band Velop Extender to the INNER office area and moving one of the Linksys Velop AC6600 (Nodes) as close as possible to the outside, actually we moved it to a window location which gave us another few hundred square feet outside connectivity. We moved the Node from an area where it previously was surrounded by concrete, bricks, metal & drywall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Router! Future Proof with Velop Nodes I brought this because the ATT uverse WiFi router wasn't good enough. I brought thinking I would have to add some Velops but the signal is strong enough in most parts of our split-level house that we are holding off adding Velop nodes. Only downside is that you have to use app to configure this router and my old Andoid tablet wouldn't sync up. I had to use my daughters new android phone to set up AC2200, MU-MIMO. I wish it could be set up by web browser like WRT3200ACM AC3200 MU-MIMO Gigabit WiFi Router that I set up for my employer. Have had the router for 2 1/2 weeks and working great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Connection Issues I've bought a AC1200 LINKSYS Router and short after upgraded to this because of the other router having too many drop connections and did not support my 200Mbps internet speed. First day having this router was very good with increase of speed and being able to support 200Mbps. The next few days a connection drop would happen every 30 minutes while video streaming. I do only have a total of 2 smart phones and my Xbox one S connected to this. There isn't any solution but rebooting. to have to reboot at least 5 times a day within only 3 hours isn't something anyone would want to do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from USB Port Not Functional I bought this because is mesh WiFi capable and has a USB 3.0 port, a feature missing on Velop nodes. What was not made really clear is that the USB port is currently non-functional. I have always had an external drive on my network for backups. Now I can't use it that way. Please refer to the following I found in FAQs: 6. Can I plug my USB hard drive or a printer to the USB port on the Linksys MR8300? No. Currently the USB port does not support USB devices, the USB port is for future expansion. Epic fail on your part for releasing the router with this feature disabled.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good router, horrible configuration tools I bought this to augment my existing router, the hardware is quite good. Once working, it works well. Two things I hate: 1. The configuration tools are god awful. The website is barely tolerable and is laid out like a deck of cards thrown into the air. The ios app is a burn down and start over after the development team goes through some serious UX training. On my own development team, I use this app as what not to do since their are so many examples. 2. Whay cant I force the mesh to use the ethernet backbone.
