Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick & Easy Set Up The router was easy to set up following the included simple direction sheet. A little understanding of networking concepts is helpful but not essential in getting this dual-band router running in your system. This device is a great way to take control of your home network. Be sure to pay attention to the ports that are connected. Tip: Change the password to something that is memorable to make the other connections. Recording your changes to the Quick Start Guide will be a good place to create a written form the changes. Placing the router on a shelf off the floor will help with the overall range of the antennas. This device is an excellent way to increase your access speed!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dual-Band and powerful.. App Support! The router works great, it's fast and has a great range. The only short coming is the configuration software. It prompts you to download their genie software which helps you get through the first part of the setup. But it will only allow you too configure the 2.4ghz radio. To configure the 5ghz radio you have to use the web interface...which you could also use to configure the 2.4ghz radio...so the software is pretty much useless bloat. If Netgear got rid of the download and just directed you straight to the web interface I'd give this thing 5 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little basic, but decent. It is worth noting that this is not a high-end router, by any means. However, for a small office with minimal traffic between systems or just for accessing the internet, it works well. The lack of Gigabit ethernet ports limits throughput, but for anyone in a rural area, it should be more than enough for just a few devices. Many of these areas don't get more than 30 Mbps download speeds, meaning this will handle all of the network traffic with a decent amount of overhead. I would not recommend it for large families or anyone with a lot of WiFi devices, as you'll quickly reach its limits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive, reliable, easy I had a necessity for an additional router but didn’t want to spend a lot of money since I didn’t need to router to be feature-rich like my EA9500. Enter the AC1000. It was a breeze to setup - taking maybe 5 minutes - and worked immediately. The devices I needed it to drive included three streaming security cameras and it’s been working perfectly for that job. I have been running it for more than a week, now, under a fairly heavy load and it has handled it flawlessly. Like my other Linksys products, I expect service and longevity. If I had to buy it again, I definitely would.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to configure The Linksys AC1000 while small in size was easy to configure and is packed with options. The dual band allowed me to separate devices and provide better distribution of bandwidth in the house. The miniature size and support configuration allowed me the opportunity to place it visibly in the middle of the house and distribute signal throughout the house while allowing me to place it in an area that was totally unnoticeable. The signal strength was good enough for a single story house but it needed a little more power to cover the extremities of the second floor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good features and great price When testing this unit, I found it to be very simple to install and setup. It easily saw and connected to several devices, including a couple of phones. The dual 2.4 & 5 Ghz bandwidth was a nice feature, as was the guest network. My only issue was with the speed of the unit. The unit seems much slower than the higher priced Linksys models and the network ports only support 10/100 and not 1000. Overall I would rate this a great budget model with a terrific price but would not recommend it to the high traffic users, gamers, or streaming customers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Super Easy Setup I really liked how easy this was to get up and running. Though the feature list is rather short. Also, the way the speed is listed as 1000mb is misleading. It is actually 700mb for the 5ghz range and 300 for the 2.4ghz range. I don't know of any wifi device that can connected to both bands at the same time, so you're only going to get one or the other. For a basic home wifi setup this would be pretty nice, but I want a little more speed than this offers for streaming video from my cloud video player. With this router, if more than 2 devices are trying to stream video, it starts buffering. All of my devices connect to the 5ghz range and usually connect at 450mb or a little better most of the time, but the router itself can't stream out to more than 2 of them at a time. Also, the Ethernet prots are only 100mb Fast Ethernet. They are not Gigabit. This is also well below what I want in my home.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Connecting Router Hi, I received your router but I'm not to swift with all the lingo on wi-fi, I have a cable router/modem and tried to connect the AC1000 but had no luck. I'm a step by step person and I have no idea where to start with making changes to the current cable router/modem to bypass the router and link in the AC1000. I'm sorry but this stuff is over my head and I know something will screw up and I'll be without internet service for sure. This is not for me! I have to go with the lowest ratings since I'm not able to use the AC1000
