Linksys EA6100 AC1200 Smart Wi-Fi Router

FAST TRANSFER RATES FOR VIDEO STREAMING AND ONLINE GAMING

The AC1200 features dual wireless bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) with data speeds up to N300 Mbps + AC867 Mbps*, great for media-intense applications such as video streaming and online gaming.

Four Fast Ethernet ports make it easy to connect devices directly to the router or share data on external storage devices. Plus, use the USB 2.0 port** to transfer files from a storage device or share a printer across your Wi-Fi network.

BEAMFORMING TECHNOLOGY HELPS ELIMINATE DEAD SPOTS

Beamforming focuses the Wi-Fi signal directly to your smartphones, tablets, and laptops instead of sending out a general transmission. The result is a more efficient network with a wider range.

When your device doesn't have to work as hard to receive data, it means not only greater efficiency for you, but also a longer battery life for your connected devices.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy Setup but... Last fall, my old linksys router died. Bought a new linksys 6100/1200 router. Setup was a snap, got my printer, 2 iPads, computer and iPhone on line. Pretty easy! I really like the linksys smart wi-fi web page where I can see devises on the router, change channels, block un-authorized devises, etc. But, I found that I could no longer print from the apple products to the hp 7520 although printing was achievable with the old router. Get the message, "no air printer". Now, if something from an apple product needs to be printed, I email it to my computer and print from there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Painless Set-up! I have deferred buying a wireless router because of the difficulties I had witnessed with others setting up their wireless system (admittedly this was years ago). So I was naturally skeptical when the salesperson told me the Linksys EA6100 AC1200 Dual-Band Smart Wi-Fi Wireless Router was basically a "Plug & Play" unit. But , lo and behold, it really was! I have been enjoying it on a trouble-free basis since day 1.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good technology, easy setup I needed to set up Wifi in a smallish condo and this was recommended to me by Best Buy. I'm no techie but it was easy to install and works like a charm for a newish computer and an old one via a 7-year old adapter. Signal strength excellent and no dead zones with my iPhone. Haven't tried streaming yet, or installing a wireless printer, but am confident they will be fine. The EA6100 helped me set up a network for transferring programs betwen computers despite Microsoft's best efforts to make the procedure complicated! I am glad I bought it. It might even deserve 5 stars -- I simply don't know yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick, easy setup, better signal at lower ghz Bought this unit with trepidation because half of the customer reviews I read described how difficult it was to setup. Not. It was a breeze. Unit works great at 2.4 Mhz, providing me with an EXCELLENT signal but at 5 Ghz the signal is described by my Roku units as only Good or Fair. Not sure if I know enough about the technology to know if that is normal. But I'm only providing a signal for two tvs, two kindles and two android phones, so my wi-fi needs are not that great. I bought my unit through Amazon and saved $30.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great support The support I received from Linksys was outstanding. The reason I needed support was my laptop loaded with Windows 10 kept dropping the WiFi signal. After changing some settings with the help of support the issue was resolved. Currently I have 2 desk top computers, a laptop computer, iphone and ipad using the router. The only device that is able to take advantage of the 5 GHz band is the ipad. The iphone (4s) is too old.The laptop is not dual width capable even though it is only 2 years old. The router is very good but I'm disappointed that I can not use it to its fully capacity.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No support for this model. Thumbs down Just puchased this device. No firmware update sine 08/11/2014 would be fine, IF you could turn off http administration and you could pull up a list of current systems to use MAC filtering. The firewall allows IPV6 rules, but no IPV4 rules? It is like they just forgot to put in features. Linksys has really gone downhill in their software and support for it over the years. Thinking this one needs to go back to the store.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems using Windows 10 After a week with daily contacts with LinkSys support we determined the the EA6100 could not maintain communication with an HP Pavilion desktop running Windows 7 and at the same time communicate with an HP ENVY desktop running Windows 10. Service would drop to download speeds of 0.03 Mb under Windows 7 but with speeds of up to 113 Mb under Windows 10. Both Windows 7 and Windows 10 supported 95-110 Mb downloads for direct cable connections to the Ariss TM722 modem. Needless to say, the EA6100 was returned and switched for a WRT1200 AC. Now both the Windows 7 and the windows 10 desktops are experiencing download speeds around 95 Mb/s. The only problem to solve is what causes the modem to terminate connection with the router forcing a need to power off reboot the router when documents such as this are requested.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good! I have been using my Linksys EA6100 for about two weeks without a glitch. The set up was about as easy as it could be. I just followed the instructions and it fired right up. So far I am using it with my desktop, a laptop, a smart TV(Sony Bravia) and two Nokia Lumia smart phones. The range has been excellent. Signal is great all over the house even out in the garage. I have not encountered any speed issues as yet. Can't comment on the reliabilty as yet, unit is too new.

*Up to 2.8x faster physical data rate when compared to 802.11n Wi-Fi routers using two antennas to transmit and receive data. Actual speeds will vary depending on a number of factors. In order to achieve the best performance, router must be used with a compatible AC867 wireless device.
**The standard transmission rates—300 Mbps or 867 Mbps (for 5 GHz), 300 Mbps (for 2.4 GHz), 54 Mbps, and 11 Mbps—are the physical data rates. Actual data throughput will be lower and may depend on the mix of wireless products used and external factors.
