Linksys AC1600 Dual Band Smart WiFi Router

The AC1600 WiFi Router features dual wireless bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) with data speeds up to N300 Mbps + AC1300 Mbps*, great for media-intense applications such as video streaming and online gaming.

Four Gigabit Ethernet ports make it easy to share data quickly across your network, and to external devices - at speeds 10x faster than Fast Ethernet. Plus, you can use the high-performance USB 3.0 port** to attach a storage device and quickly transfer large files or share devices across your WiFi network.

Beamforming focuses the WiFi signal directly to your smartphones, tablets, and laptops instead of sending out a general transmission. The result is a more efficient network with a wider range.

When your device doesn't have to work as hard to receive data, it means not only greater efficiency for you, but also a longer battery life for your connected devices.

With Alexa, you can easily manage Wi-Fi access for devices and individuals in the home, taking focus away from screens and back to what’s important. Say commands like “Alexa, turn off Timmy’s Wi-Fi”, when it’s time for dinner or “Alexa, enable guest Wi-Fi” when you have people over.

With the Linksys Smart WiFi App, you can closely monitor and manage your home WiFi remotely using a smartphone or tablet.

  • Guest Access: Create a separate, password-protected WiFi network for up to 50 guests and easily share the password.
  • Parental Controls: Ensure a safe Internet experience for your kids -- even when you're away from home. Restrict access to inappropriate or distracting content, control usage, and block specific devices from accessing the Internet.
  • Device Prioritization: You can prioritize devices that need the most speed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from High Expectations I figured it was time to upgrade the router due to the additional devices added and some complaining from users. I consider us typical surfers, not serious gamers. The previous router was a E2500 that I have no issues with. I had high expectations for the AC1600 and expected to see obvious improvement. Not so. I am considering returning this and going with something better ( more $$$ ). I am not a IT person nor much with computers and networking. I was unable to locate a simple program that could check the performance of my router / wifi and to determin what maybe causing intermittent apparent slow downs. Connecting direct to the router is obviously much faster, so I'm not convinced it is the modem or cable signal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pretty bad if connecting to non-computer devices I previously had a linksys E3000 that need to be replaced. I have an Ackerman security system and a sleep number bed connected to this router that worked well. After installing the EA6400 I've been having issues with the wifi strength. Keep in mind the router/security system console/bed are in the exact same place as when I had the E3000. When I contacted support it was suggested that the vendors wifi technology might not be up to date. What ever happened to backwards compatibility? Support suggested I contact the vendors although my E3000 wifi strength was previously working fine. Also suggested buying an amplifier...really? Just dropped $140 and you want me to spend even more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor memory handling After a lot of research, come to find out that this router (at least mine) has poor memory management. After 24 to 36 hours this router slows down to a crawl (from 75mbps to 10mbps) then you have to reboot the router in order for it to go back up. Thought I would get a little better range and speed with this router from my old one but it appears that I did not consider reliability.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Our ea6400 We purchased our Linksy WR in 2016 from Office Depot this was recommended as a excellent router for multiple devices and great speed. We only use our mobile devices and laptops in our home and we continually get unable to connect no internet, it takes long to locate the page or while on a page or watching a video it suddenly stops and starts searching for internet. We hate this router when we pay for more interest speed than we probably need and good money for what you’d expect to be an excellent product we should not be having any of these issues it certainly is not our Apple devices I don’t recommend this router. When I purchased this router it was slightly more than $129. Even at that price this is a rip off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the Job! I bought this almost a year ago because I needed something more powerful to support all of my internet needs after I added a cloud based surveillance camera. I had a little bit of trouble installing it because the Linksys site didn't want to recognize its own password. (I was also having trouble with the computer I was using so I had to get my newer laptop involved.) But I called and immediately got wonderful help on the phone. I have had absolutely no problems since then.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Buy I bought this router from the refurbished pool of routers offered by Linksys. It was easy to set up, works great and was indistinguishable from a new router. Also, it was less than half the price of a new router. This router also had the most current level of firmware so no maintenance had to be downloaded and applied. Before you buy, look at the refurbished section.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up...Great Features...Great range... I have had this EA6400 for about 6 months. It was very easy to set up whether DSL or Cable. You can make changes from your Smartphone, tablet ect. The range of WIFI signal is excellent inside or out. The cost is great with all the features it comes with. This Router can do much more than what's available now...I would highly recommend this Router...

*The standard transmission rates—300 Mbps or 1300 Mbps (for 5 GHz), 300 Mbps (for 2.4 GHz), 54 Mbps, and 11 Mbps—are the physical data rates. Actual data throughput will be lower and may depend on the mix of wireless products used.
**Up to 4.3x faster physical data rate when compared to 802.11n Wi-Fi routers using two antennas to transmit and receive data. Actual speeds will vary depending on a number of factors. In order to achieve the best performance, router must be used with a compatible AC1300 wireless device.
