Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installs and Works Great I received the Velop Whole Home Wi-Fi 2 pack yesterday. This was to replace a router and wifi extender that were about 4 years old. This was the easiest wifi router I have ever installed. All of the installation is done via your cell phone. It took under 15 minutes to install the 2 units. I have a 4,200 sq ft 2 story house and the coverage is fantastic in every part of it. The Velop definitely increased the speed of my main PC (which is plugged straight in to an ethernet port on the main unit) and in my case doubled the speed on all of my other wifi devices that we use in the other story of the house. I give a big thumbs up for this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme Power Small Size LOVE LOVE LOVE This amazing new router! First off even the box and the way it was packaged so neatly even made me love it even more. It's such a powerful router in such a small form factor. It looks so nice placed anywhere you decide to call it it's home. Setup of this router was a breeze using the Linksys Smart Wifi App and only took under about 5 minutes to get my new network up and running. The speed I experience with this new device is beyond my expectations as well as the range of coverage I have with it. I've never been so satisfied with a product I would highly recommend this router to anyone and everyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Innovative design and size. Product arrived very well packaged. Minimal paperwork/instructions included but not really required since App is easy to use and self explanatory. You can only set up the Velop system via the Linkys Smart WiFi iOS or Android apps. My setup was with two nodes know as parent (hooked to the cable modem) and child (the other node). Overall installation was fairly simple it took me about half an hour for setup and another half hour to set up all my devices. The nodes are small well designed with great ventilation they run much more cooler than my existing products. App is user friendly and provides easy access to monitor and interface with the devices.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Velop and Network Attached Storage Devices I'm wondering if you can setup velop to integrate with a NAS?Also Can I use a Ethernet to USB adapter to connect a storage device to the unit? Internet is great all over the home, but without being able to backup your devices or manage those backups, I feel is a real let down. The cloud isn't for everyone and I would like to backup my computers to an external HDD right on my network, so i'm hoping that it's possible somehow. Anyways Ill see how this whole home system compares to my standalone netgear X6 in the next 30 days. I'm hoping for consistency with this unit, because netgears products have speed drops constantly which becomes very irritating

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally - Total Home WIFI coverage Still to early to give the "VELOP" five stars. But so far so good - I notice a immediate difference with "NETFLIX" streaming (no buffering). The "VELOP" (3 nodes) is covering over 5000 sq. ft. in my home - with TV's constantly streaming, with over 25 devices (phones, IPads, PC's, Washer & Dryer, printers, etc.) and there nothing I can complain about (except a "burp" here and there with Comcast). I had a minor problem during installation (user induced) and had to start the process over - but installation is a straight forward process. All-In-All - if you are experiencing WIFI issues in your home - the may be answer you are looking for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A Lot of Room for Improvement I've been playing with the Velop for the past 3 days.  I'm comparing it to Google WiFi which I used for a week before getting the Velop.  I really want to like the Velop more - mainly because it has a dedicated 5 Ghz backhaul channel.  But as of right now, the Velop needs a lot of work and seems to have been released prematurely. Note that you must manage Velop and Google WiFi via an iOS/Android app. No web page management is available. Key features that are missing from Velop app that the Google Wifi app has: 1. Ability to reboot the nodes or the entire network via the app. Not sure how they left out such a key feature, but as of right now, you'd have to physically unplug all of the nodes to reboot your network. I haven't had a router that couldn't be rebooted via an app/web browser in 10 years. 2. Ability to determine which node and frequency a device is connected to.  I have no way of knowing if the devices are handing off from node to node or if this handoff is seamless.  With the Google app, you can see which node a device is connected to. With Google WiFi, I moved around the house while connected to VoIP calls, Facetime calls, VPN connection to my employer, etc. and I saw that the devices were seamlessly moving between nodes - I never lost connectivity.  The Velop system may work just as well in this regard, but the app doesn't allow me to know that since I can't see which node I'm connected to! 3. Ability to test connectivity between the nodes.  Linksys performs this check during the initial installation but there is no way to test the connectivity again afterwards.  Moving one of the child nodes 5-10 feet closer to the parent (main) node might make a big difference in speed, but you have no way of knowing how the connectivity is after initial setup.  Google WiFi allows you to test the mesh connection between each node at any time and shows you a sliding scale from Poor to Fair to Good.  It's a sliding scale, so your connection strength could be somewhere between Fair and Good for example which is an indication that you might want to try relocation the node a little and test the connection again. 4. Smooth, fast, accurate view of connected devices.  My wife has been gone from the house for 4 hours, yet her Apple Watch (which she is most definitely wearing) is still showing as connected in the Linksys app.  Furthermore, it says the watch is connected via ethernet which is impossible.  Overall, the Google WiFi app is MUCH smoother and quicker and feels MUCH more polished than the Linksys app. Other impressions on Velop vs. Google WiFi: 1. I can obtain faster speeds when connected to the child node with Velop than with Google WiFi.  This is due to the dedicated 5 Ghz backhaul channel and this is the reason I purchased the Velop. 2. However, the Velop speeds are more inconsistent than Google WiFi.  On the Velop, I can achieve the full 240 Mbps speeds that my ISP provides - even when connected to a child node!  However, at times the speeds drop to 60-70 Mbps when running a speed test.  One time, the speeds even dropped to ~5-10 Mbps and I was able to repeat this with a couple of back-to-back speed tests using different sites and servers (DSL Reports speed test + Speedtest.net).  A few minutes later, the speeds were back to 200+ Mbps. 3. Google WiFi speeds are a little slower (as expected) since there is no dedicated backhaul channel.  I lose about 20% of my 240 Mbps speed when connected to the child node and I get speed test results of ~180-200 Mbps as a result.  However - the Google WiFi speeds have been more consistent and always seem to be in this range.  I haven't seen any huge speed drop-offs like what I saw with the Velop.  Personally, consistency is more important to me. Again, I really want to like the Velop.  I have 90 days to return either the Velop or Google WiFi system and I will be alternating between the two during that time to see what improvements each system makes over the next 3 months.  I'm hoping that Linksys steps up their game a bit, as it seems that they still have a lot of work to do. As of right now (January 16, 2017), Google WiFi is the better WiFi system. I'll update this review as necessary if/when Linksys makes improvements.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not stable - look at other options I purchased this 2 weeks ago from Best Buy. Setup was straightforward, although it took a bit for the 2nd node to sync. The performance is lacking horribly on this. I have a 1GB fibre connection to my home, and many devices were unable to achieve 100Mb with a 20 ft line of sight connection. Our previous 6 yr old Netgear Nighthawk performed much better (450 Mbps) . We have on average, 16 devices connected at any given time. The 2nd node seems to interfere with the primary node, as many of our devices connect to the primary node on another floor of our home, compared to the 2nd node only a few feet away. I am returning this today for something that can provide a stable, fast connection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth Every Dime! I just bought the 3 tower Velop system to solve a problem I was having with spotty wifi in a large house (4,000 sq ft). I had a great router but it was located in the back of my house which gave me very poor wifi in the front because it was too far away. I added an extender but now it created a secondary wifi network xxxx-5G-EXT that you would have to make sure you logged in to when in the front portion. It was a pain. This new Velop system gives me uninterrupted service through all 4,000 square feet under the same network name with no loss in signal strength. I thought it was a bit expensive but it was worth every dime. If you have a big house, BUY IT!

*Based on the maximum speed that data (Phy rate) can move across a wireless link while alternating between the two 5GHz radios in each node. Each node has three Wi-Fi radios – one 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi radio and two 5 GHz Wi-Fi radios. Each 5 Ghz radio has throughput of 867 Mbps. Nodes will alternate between the two 5 GHz radios for each separate connection, providing 100% seamless Wi-Fi to your network. Specifications are subject to change without notice. An active, customer purchased Internet Service Provider broadband account is required for connection of this product and other connected devices to the Internet. Some devices may require additional wireless adapters or an Ethernet cable to connect.
**Each node in the wireless system provides a range of up to 2,000 square feet. Range can vary with the number and placement of nodes in the system. Range specifications are based on performance test results under normal use case conditions. Actual ranges will vary depending on wireless obstructions, operating environments and building material. Wireless coverage claims are used only as reference and are not guaranteed, as each wireless network is unique.
†For full warranty and support information, please visit the product support page.
‡Maximum Performance derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual performance may vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, speed, range and coverage. Performance depends upon many factors, conditions and variables, including building materials and construction, volume of network traffic, mix of wireless products used, interference and other adverse conditions. In order to achieve the best performance, this product must be used with compatible AC2200 wireless devices. The standard transmission rates for each node—867 Mbps (for each 5 GHz radio), 400 Mbps (for 2.4 GHz)—are the physical data rates. Actual data throughput will be lower and may depend on the mix of wireless products used and external factors.
