Updating the wireless adapter’s drivers for Windows Vista

Updating the driver of your Linksys wireless adapter to the latest version ensures optimum performance of your device.  The steps below will guide you on how to update the drivers of your Linksys Wireless adapter.
 
Updating the Linksys Wireless Adapter’s Drivers
 
Step 1:
Click the Pearl  button located at the bottom left corner of the screen.  Type “device manager” in the Start Search box, then press [Enter].
 
 
NOTE:  In case the User Account Control window appears, click Continue.
 
Step 2:
On the Device Manager window, click Network Adapter.  Right-click Linksys Network Adapter and then click on Update Driver Software.
 
 
NOTE:  In this example, the adapter used is Linksys Wireless-G PCI Network Adapter.
 
Step 3:
On the Update Driver Software window, click Browse my computer for driver software.
 
 
Step 4:
In the Browse for driver software on your computer window, click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
 
 
 
Step 5:
Under Select your device’s type from the list below, click Network adapters.
 
 
Step 6:
In the Select Network Adapter window, click the Have Disk… button.
 
 
Step 7:
In the Install From Disk dialog box, click the Browse… button.
 
 
Step 8:
Look for the driver folder.  In this example, we chose the VISTAX86 folder, select netr70 filename and click Open.
 
QUICKTIP:  The driver of the adapter normally has a .inf file extension.
 
 
Step 9:
Click OK.
 
 
Step 10:
Click Next.
 
 
Step 11:
In the Windows Security pop-up window, click Install this driver software anyway.
 
 
 
NOTE:  Wait for the computer to install the driver software.
 
 
Step 12:
Click Close.  The driver of your Linksys Wireless adapter is now updated.  Restart your computer to synchronize the adapter.
 
 
QUICK TIP:  If your adapter is not working properly, you may also opt to go through the process of uninstalling and re-installing the adapter using the setup wizard.  You can also install the adapter using another computer to isolate the problem.
