- Unable to view the wireless printer in the network
The unavailability of your printer to the network may be caused by several factors. This article will help you identify the causes of the issue and fix them.
Small things like loose or incorrect cable connection can cause your printer to be invisible on the network. Make sure the power cable of your printer is working and is connected to the power outlet. Also, check if the lights on the printer are lit especially the power.
Since wireless technology is all over the place, there is a possibility that your printer is connected to the wrong network. Verify if your printer is connected to your network by checking the DHCP client table.
In case your printer is not on the same network as your other wireless devices are, you need to disconnect it from the current network and connect it to your own. In connecting your printer, you will need the following settings:
Wi-Fi name – This is the name of your Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi password or passphrase – This is the password that you use to connect wirelessly.
Security mode – The type of encryption that your network uses. Choose the security mode that is compatible with all the devices in your home.
Network mode – The wireless technology that your network utilizes.
QUICK TIP: The SSID Broadcast of your router should always be Enabled. As long as the network is secured, there’s no reason to worry about the visibility of your network. Another setting that you need to check is the MAC Filter feature. If you intentionally turn this ON, add the MAC address of your printer to allow access to the network. Otherwise, you can disable this security feature.
After connecting your printer to the network, check the following settings:
Windows firewall and other security settings
Security settings include the antivirus software and built-in firewall of your computer. There are several firewall and antivirus software that block some printer drivers necessary to detect the printer.
What you can do:
Update the virus scan patterns of your antivirus or internet security software
Add exceptions for your printer manually
