Changing the Extended Wireless Settings on the Linksys RE6500

Changing the Extended Wireless Settings allows you to change the options for your Extended Wireless Network, such as the SSID.  By default, Extended Wireless Networks will match the settings of your main router or access point. 

Follow the steps below to know how to change the Extended Wireless Settings on your RE6500.

Before proceeding, make sure you are connected to your network or connected directly to your range extender through the LAN port.

Step 1: 
Open a web browser and enter linksysrangeext.local.
 
Step 2: 
Click Basic Settings.
 
 
Step 3: 
Locate the Extended Wireless Settings of the band that you want to change and click the Make same as router settings check box to untick it.
 
 
NOTE:  By default, the checkbox is checked and the fields are hidden.
 
Step 4: 
Enter your preferred wireless network name and password in the fields provided.
 
Step 5: 
Click Enabled on SSID Broadcast.
 
 
NOTE:  If this option is left on Auto, the range extender will follow the settings of the main router or access point.
 
You have now changed the Extended Network Settings of your Linksys RE6500.
