Setting up the Linksys X6200 for VDSL connection

The Linksys X6200 has the capability to support Very-high-bitrate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) connection, often referred to as Fibre connection by your Internet Service Providers (ISPs).  This connection goes over the phone line but has a download speed greater than 24Mbps.  Follow the steps below to setup VDSL on your Linksys X6200.
 
IMPORTANT:  Before you proceed in configuring your Linksys X6200, you need to know the necessary settings given by your ISP.  You may refer to this
article for the settings needed.
 
Step 1:
Access the Linksys X6200’s web-based setup page.
 
Step 2:
Click Setup > Basic Setup.

Step 3:
Under Physical Setting, set the Physical Type to DSL and the DSL Mode to PTM.

Step 4:
If your ISP requires a VLAN, select Enable VLAN and enter the VLAN ID provided by your ISP.

Step 5:
Under Internet Setup, set the Internet Connection Type required by your ISP. 

 
  • For PPPoE, enter the correct User Name and Password as specified by your ISP.

  • If your Internet Connection Type is Dynamic, select IPoE and set the IP Settings to Automatically obtain an IP address.

  • If your ISP requires you to set a static IP address, select IPoE and set the IP Settings to Use the following IP address.  Then, enter the IP address settings given to you by your ISP in the fields provided.

  • If you want to use the unit as a modem without the router functionality, select Bridge Mode.  This will disable its wireless capability and other network functions.

NOTE:  You will be asked if you want to disable the LAN side of the router, click OK.

Step 6:
Click Save Settings.
