Setting up the first or primary node of your Velop system using an Android™ device

Setting up the Linksys Velop Intelligent Mesh WiFi System is easy through the Linksys app.  The Linksys app automatically identifies the nodes to be set up and it provides an animated setup guide explaining the entire process.  In addition, each node has an integrated Bluetooth® radio, making the setup process secure, seamless, and simple.  Follow the steps below to learn how to set up up your first node using an Android™ device.

Requirements:
 
1.  The latest Linksys app installed from the Google Play™ store
2.  A mobile device running on at least Android™ 4.1 or later
3.  An active internet connection through a modem or modem router (gateway)

Directions
 
Step 1:
Launch the Linksys app.

Step 2:
Tap Launch setup.

Step 3:
Select A Velop system.

Step 4:
Read the Terms and Conditions and tap Agree to continue.
 
NOTE:  The Terms and Conditions agreement will only appear if it's the first time you launch the Linksys app.

Step 5:
You may be prompted to turn on your Bluetooth.  Bluetooth is used for setup purposes only.  Tap Turn on Bluetooth to automatically turn ON the Bluetooth.

NOTE:  Some Android devices may prompt you to turn on Location services when Bluetooth is enabled.  In this case, turn on Location in Android settings.

Step 6:
Setup will look for your node.

Step 7:
Once your node has been found, tap Next.

Setup will now check for your internet connection.

NOTES: 
  • If no internet connection is found after some time, you might see the I want to enter my ISP settings manually link.  Tap on the link if you need to enter your settings (e.g., Static WAN IP address) manually.  
  • If you have a PPPoE connection, you will be prompted to enter your PPPoE username and password.

Step 8:
Create a Linksys cloud account by entering an email address and password in the fields provided.  Tap Next to proceed.  If you already have an account, tap on Log In

Step 9:
Personalize your home Wi-Fi by creating a Wi-Fi name and password.  Once done, tap Next.

If you are prompted to connect to your new Wi-Fi name, go to your mobile phone's Settings > Wi-Fi and connect to your new Velop Wi-Fi name.  If you closed the app to do this, reopen it to continue setup.
 
Step 10:
The app will now configure your Velop network.

Step 11:
Give your node a name then tap Next.

NOTE:  It is recommended that the location name corresponds to the actual location of your node in the home.  This will allow you to better identify multiple nodes through the Linksys app.  To customize the name, tap Name it something else.
 
Step 12:
On the Success! screen, tap Next.

NOTE:  If you want to add a node, tap Add Another Node.  Otherwise, tap on That’s it for Now.  You can also add a node later by logging in to the Velop dashboard.  For instructions, click here.

Step 13:
Once the Always fresh screen appears, tap Next.

The node will do a firmware check to see your node is up to date.
 
If a new firmware is available, the app will update automatically.  Otherwise, you will land on the Your Wi-Fi is ready screen.

IMPORTANT:  After setting up your node, change the Velop’s admin password.  A random, secure admin password was created during setup (this password will not be displayed).  Use the admin password to log in to your Velop system if you don’t have an internet connection or if our server is temporarily down for maintenance.  To learn how to change the admin password, click here.
