Enabling Filter Multicast on a Linksys router

Multicast is a form of communication that allows multiple transmissions of multimedia and streaming data to specific recipients at the same time.  Enabling the Filter multicast feature on your Linksys router lets you sort out selective multiple transmissions for devices connected to the network.  This article will guide you on how to enable Filter multicast on a Linksys router.

There are two (2) ways to enable this feature:

Linksys cloud account
Classic web-based setup page

Linksys cloud account

Step 1:
Access your Linksys cloud account.  To learn how, click here.

Step 2:
On the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi homepage, click the Security  tool.  The Filter Multicast option is available under the Internet Filters section.

 


NOTE:  The Filter Multicast checkbox is disabled by default.  If you want to enable this feature, tick Filter Multicast checkbox, click Apply, and then Ok to save settings.

Classic web-based setup page

Step 1:
Access the web-based setup page of your Linksys router.  To learn how, click here for Windows® computers.  For Mac® computers, click here.

Step 2:
Once the page is up, click the Security tab.  The Filter Multicast option is available under the Internet Filter section.

 


NOTE:  The Filter Multicast checkbox is disabled by default.  If you want to enable this feature, tick Filter Multicast checkbox and click Save Settings.

You should now have successfully enabled the Filter multicast feature of your router.
