Configuration types for the Linksys X-series Gateways

The Linksys X-series Wireless-N ADSL 2+ Modem Router can be set up in two (2) ways:

i.    As a Modem-Router
ii.   As a Router

As a Modem-Router

You may use the Linksys X-series Gateway as both a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) modem and a router.  If you have a DSL Internet service provider, this option provides Internet access and networking connectivity to your computers, without the need for a separate modem and router.

As a Router

If you have a separate Cable or DSL modem for Internet access, this option provides networking connectivity to your computers.
