How to check and configure the IP address of a Linksys Ethernet bridge or media connector

This article will teach you how to check and configure the IP address of your Linksys Ethernet bridge or media connector.

IMPORTANT:  When not connected to a network with a router or access point with a DHCP server feature, the default IP addresses of Linksys media connector and wireless bridges are:

WES610N v1:
WES610N v2:

NOTE:  You can use the following IP addresses mentioned above if your wireless bridge or media connector is connected directly to your computer using an Ethernet cable.

However, if your wireless bridge or media connector is connected to a network through a DHCP server, follow these steps:

1. Checking the IP address
2. Manually configuring the IP address

Checking the IP address

Using the Classic interface

Step 1:
Access the web-based setup page of your router.  For instructions, click here.  To know how to access the router's web-based setup page using a Mac® computer, click here.

Step 2:
Click the Status tab.

Step 3:
Click on the Local Network sub-tab then click on the DHCP Client Table button.

A separate window will open for the DHCP Client Table.  Search for your device in the Client Name column then take note of the media connector or bridge’s IP address.  Click Close to exit the window.

NOTE:  The Linksys WET610N wireless bridge is used in this example.

You should have successfully checked the IP address of your Linksys media connector or bridge now.

Manually configuring IP address

Step 1:
Access your wireless media connector’s web-based setup page.  For instructions, click here.  To learn how to access the wireless Ethernet bridge’s web-based setup page, click here.

Step 2:
To manually configure your wireless bridge’s network settings, select Static IP and enter the following:

  • Static IP Address:  Enter the device’s IP address and make sure that it is on the same Local Area Network (LAN) segment as the router.  In the example below, we used
  • Subnet Mask:  Enter the Subnet Mask, which should match the subnet mask of the router.  The default Subnet Mask is
  • Default Gateway:  Enter your router’s IP address.  The default IP address of a Linksys router is

Step 3:
Click the button.
