Connecting the iPad® to the Guest network

The Guest network is an added feature of your Linksys Wi-Fi Router.  It provides a separate wireless network for Internet access only.  Computers or devices connected to the Guest network will have Internet connection but will not be able to access the router’s main network and communicate with other devices in the network.

Before connecting, make sure you have the following:

  • Guest Network Name
  • Guest network key or Password

To learn how to check the Guest network password using the Connect software, click here.

NOTE:  The Guest Access feature is only available to all Linksys Wi-Fi Router, Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, and the Linksys X-series gateways.

Step 1:
On your Home Screen, tap Settings.

Step 2:
Select Wi-Fi.

NOTE:  If the Wi-Fi feature is OFF, slide the Wi-Fi switch to the right to activate.

Step 3:
On the right navigation, tap on the Guest network that you want to connect to.

NOTE:  The wireless network name (SSID) of the Guest network will have a “–guest” suffix in addition to the SSID of the main wireless network.  The Guest network will appear as an unsecured network in the list of available wireless network names.  However, when you open a web browser it will require you to enter the guest password before you can access the Internet.

Step 4:
Press the Home  button to exit the Settings screen, then launch the Safari web browser or any other web browser available on the iPad®.

You will now be able to enter the Password of the Guest network.  Make sure that you enter this correctly.

NOTE:  Ensure that you’ve successfully connected to the Guest network in order for the login page to appear.  Once connected to the network, you should see a solid Airport  icon on the upper-left corner of your iPad®.  To learn how to check your router’s wireless settings using an iPad®, click here.

Step 5:
Tap LOGIN.
