Resetting your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router password

The router password, also known as admin password, is used to access your router’s admin page.  If you changed or forgot your Linksys router’s password, you can no longer retrieve it.  If you need the router password for a specific reason, you will need to Reset the router to its default settings.  Follow the steps below to properly reset your router.
 
NOTE:  The default Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router password is admin.
 
Step 1:
Disconnect your router from the modem.  Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to any of the numbered ports at the back of your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router.

Step 2:
Locate the Reset button of your router.  Using a pen or a paper clip, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds.

NOTE:  The location of your router's Reset button may vary depending on the model of your Linksys router. 

Step 3:
Observe the Power LED on the router while pressing the button.  It should blink or flash as an indication that the router is resetting properly.  
 
Step 4:
Unplug the router from the power outlet for 30 seconds.  Plug it back and wait for the Power LED to be solid.
