DSL light blinking or not lit on an ADSL gateway

When you may notice that the DSL light is blinking or not lit on your ADSL gateway, this is an indication that there is a problem with the Internet service connection of the device.  To resolve this, follow the steps below: 

Verify the Internet Connection
When setting up the Linksys ADSL gateway, make sure that the Internet connection is active when the computer is connected directly to the modem.  If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).  After ensuring that the Internet connection is active, you may then start connecting the devices together.  
Check the Physical Connection
Ensure that the ADSL line and the computer are properly connected to the gateway.  For instructions, click here.  After connecting the devices together, check the LEDs of the gateway.  For instructions, click here.  In case the DSL light is blinking or not lit, powercycle your gateway.  To learn how, follow the steps below:
Step 1:
Shut down the computer.
Step 2:
Unplug the gateway’s power cable for 30 seconds.
Step 3:
Plug the gateway's power cable and wait for the lights to be stable.
Step 4:
Power ON the computer.
You should now be able to connect to the internet.
