1.  What is the Linksys app?

The Linksys app allows you to monitor and manage your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers and Linksys Velop Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System.  With the Linksys app, you can access your home network anywhere, any time.  Easily tap into your home network to check the connection status of your devices, set up Wi-Fi access for guests or restrict your kids from accessing social networking sites when they should be doing homework.  You can even prioritize which devices on your network get priority bandwidth to reduce lag times and buffering.  You no longer have to be tethered to your desk at home to manage your home network.  Get the freedom to access and control your connected life wherever you are.

2.  How much does the Linksys app cost?

The Linksys app is free with your purchase of any Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router and Linksys Velop.

3.  Can I use the Linksys app with any Linksys device?

No.  The Linksys app ONLY works with Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers and Linksys Velop.

4.  How do I install the Linksys app into my mobile device?

For iOS devices, you can download the app through the App Store® 
or iTunes®.  For Android™ devices, you can download the app through the Google Play™ Store or the Google Play™ website.

5.  How do I check the version of my Linksys app?

On your Linksys app, tap on the Menu icon (three bars) at the left corner of the app then select Help.  Tap the +About option to see the Linksys app’s version.


1.  What is Guest Access?

Guest Access is a feature that allows you
to share internet access without exposing the rest of your Wi-Fi network.  Guests' devices can get online but cannot see or access other computers, external storage or connected devices.

2.  What is Parental Controls?

The Parental Controls feature allows you to manage your kids’ internet use.  You can restrict access to certain websites or block specific devices from accessing the internet.

3.  What is Device Prioritization?

The Device Prioritization feature allows you to prioritize which devices on your network get the most bandwidth for less lag time and buffering.

4.  Why does my mobile device ask for the Linksys app login details?

Your mobile device will prompt for your Linksys app login details if you are not connected to the router’s network.  If you want to log in using your router’s password, you need to connect to your router’s wireless network and select the option to log in using the Router Admin Password.

5.  Why can’t I see all the features and functionality?

The Linksys app and web application offer slightly different feature sets.  If the feature you are looking for is not available in the app, go to http://linksyssmartwifi.com on a desktop or a laptop computer.

6.  Can I use the app on multiple mobile devices?

Yes, your Linksys cloud account will provide access to any mobile device that you can install the app on.

7.  How do I view or change my Wi-Fi name and Password?

8.  How is this app different from previous versions?

Here are the new features in this update:
  • Supports Velop system
  • Router or node offline notifications
  • Displays devices that are blocked in Parental Controls and their time blocking status
  • Device Prioritization - add up to three clients
  • Password hint (select some models)
  • Shares Wi-Fi credentials by sending the password via email or text message
  • Removes an offline router or node from your Linksys cloud account
9.  How do I share my Wi-Fi Name and Password via text message or email?

To share your Wi-Fi Name and Password, follow the instructions below:

Step 1:
Launch the Linksys app and log in using your Linksys cloud account or tap the Log in with Router Password link to enter your admin password.

Step 2:
On the Dashboard, tap the Navigation Menu (three bars) icon.

Step 3:
Tap on Wi-Fi Settings.

Step 4:
Tap on the Share icon located at the right side of the Wi-Fi Password field.

Step 5:
You can now choose how to share your wireless credentials, either via Text Message or Email.
