Configuring your Linksys CM3008, CM3016 and CM3024 with your cable phone service

The Linksys CM3008, CM3016 and CM3024 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modems are compatible with all major cable broadband providers.  For this article, we used Time Warner Cable® and Comcast XFINITY®.

Before we start, please make sure to have the following:
  • One (1) 2-Way Coax Cable Splitter
  • Two (2) Coaxial cables
  • Your existing cable phone service voice-capable modem supplied with an RJ11 phone port
To configure your Linksys Cable Modem, follow the instructions below:

Step 1:
Unplug the coaxial cable from your Time Warner Cable® or Comcast XFINITY® voice-capable modem and plug it into the Linksys modem.  To use the Linksys modem for Internet connectivity, call your cable phone service provider and provide them the MAC address of your modem.  Be sure to let them know that you will also continue to use voice service with the modem they have already provided you.

Step 2:
Now that the Linksys modem is set up, unplug the coaxial cable from your Linksys modem and plug it into the IN port of the cable splitter.
