How to set up a wired Velop system

User-added image

Velop nodes can be connected with ethernet cables.  Wiring nodes together can increase the range and speed of your Velop system and reduce the risk of wireless interference.

You will still have to set up the additional nodes using a wireless connection.  After setup, connect the nodes using ethernet cables and the nodes will automatically switch to a wired connection.

Directions

Step 1:
Set up your primary node using the Linksys app.  To learn how to set up a primary node using an Android™ device, click
here.  To set up using an iOS device, click here.

Step 2:
Add a secondary node by wireless setup using the Linksys app.  To learn how, click
here.

Step 3:
Once the setup is complete, move the secondary node to its new location then connect it to a power outlet.

Step 4:
Connect the secondary node to the primary the node with an ethernet cable.  The nodes will automatically switch to a wired connection.

NOTE:  Use CAT5e or higher rated cables.

Step 5:
If you have other nodes to add, repeat Steps 2-3.
Once a node is set up in its intended location, connect it with an ethernet cable to the upstream node.

You have now successfully set up your wired Velop system.

NOTE:  The nodes need to be plugged in to a power source.  They do not provide power over ethernet (non-PoE device); however, they can use managed or unmanaged switches.  To learn more, click
