Personalizing the Wireless Settings of the Linksys CG7500

Personalizing your Linksys CG7500 AC1900 Wi-Fi Cable Modem Router’s wireless settings enables you to secure your wireless network.  Follow the steps below to learn how to personalize your modem router’s wireless settings.
 
Step 1: 
Using a computer connected to your modem router’s network, launch a browser and enter “http://192.168.1.1” in the Address bar and then press [ENTER]

Step 2: 
On the page that opens, enter your modem router's admin password then click Log in.  The default login password is admin.
 
NOTE:  You can also plug a computer directly to an ethernet port of the modem router.  If it is on factory defaults, the Setup Wizard will provide a step on personalizing your Wi-Fi settings.
 
Step 3: 
Click on Configuration Select Wi-Fi then Wi-Fi Settings

Step 4: 
Modify the default Wi-Fi Name and Password for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.  These are case-sensitive.
 
QUICK TIP:  You can also modify the Security settings as needed.  It is recommended to leave it to the default security settings.

NOTE:  The Broadcast SSID allows Wi-Fi devices to detect your Wi-Fi Name when they survey the local area for wireless networks.  Not broadcasting your Wi-Fi Name does not improve your Wi-Fi security.

Step 5: 
Click User-added image.

Step 6: 
Connect your wireless computers and / or devices to the new Wireless network name (SSID) and enter the new password.  These are case-sensitive.
 
You have now successfully personalized your modem router’s wireless settings.
