Linksys LAPAC2600 Seamless Roaming is not working when the Cluster feature is enabled

Scenario:  Why is the Seamless Roaming feature of my Linksys LAPAC2600 not working when the Cluster feature is enabled?

The Cluster feature of the Linksys LAPAC2600 Access Point provides a centralized method to administer and control wireless services across multiple devices.  This feature helps reduce the administrator's effort in managing and provisioning multiple access points.  Clustering has no impact on roaming efficiency.

To support roaming, the Wi-Fi security type must be WPA2™-Personal.  Based on Linksys LAPAC2600 implementation, it does not matter if the Cluster feature is enabled or disabled.  However, to make the roaming work, the client needs to support 802.11r.  But if the administrator enables 802.11r in the access point, some legacy clients may not be able to connect to the access point.  Read the details described in the Linksys LAPAC2600 User Guide below.

NOTES:
  • Though the Linksys LAPAC2600 supports Seamless Roaming, it does not have a controller.  If there is a controller in the network, then the clients have the capability to roam even without 802.11r support, and is compatible with all security modes (e.g., WPA2-Enterprise).
  • A Cloud access point like the Linksys LAPAC2600C cannot be clustered with a Non-Cloud access point such as the Linksys LAPAC2600 and vice versa.
