HARDWARE INFORMATION

1.  What is the Linksys Velop Intelligent Mesh WiFi System with Extenders?

The Linksys Velop Intelligent Mesh WiFi System with Extenders allows you to place nodes near smart home devices and hard-to-reach places like garages and hallways.  It comes with extender nodes that fit all wall sockets for whole-home mesh WiFi.

The Linksys WHW0203P is a bundle that includes one tri-band node and two dual-band extender nodes where the parent node will be set up and the extenders will be the child nodes.  For details on this combo, click
here.

2.  What are the main features of this product?

To learn more about the features of the node, click here.  To learn more about the extenders, click here.

3.
What are the system specifications of the node?

For detailed information on the specifications, click here.

4.
What are the requirements for setting up a node?

These are the requirements for setting up the parent node:

  •  A modem or a modem router (gateway) with a working internet connection
  •  A mobile device with the latest version of the Linksys app

5. What is the warranty period of the node?

The warranty period is dependent on the country of purchase.  For more information about the device’s warranty, click
here.

6.  Does the node have an indicator light?

Yes.  The node has a single indicator light on top that gives you information about the node's operation.  To learn more, click
here.

SETUP AND INSTALLATION

1.  How do I set up the node?

Setting up the node is easy using the Linksys app.  To set up the node with an Android™ device, click
here.  To set up the node with an iOS device, click here.

2.  How do I set up an extender?

In setting up an extender, keep in mind that the parent node must be set up first as an extender can only be used as a child node.  For step-by-step instructions on how to set up an extender with an Android device, click
here.  For instructions on using an iOS device, click here.

3.  Can I set up an extender as a parent node?

No.  An extender can only be used as a child node.

4.  Can an extender replace a router?

No.  An extender will not work as a router as it can only be used as a child node.

5.  How many nodes can I add to my network?

You can add as many nodes to your home as you’d like.  Linksys recommends one to two nodes per floor.  You can always start there and test out various ways of placing the node to maximize your coverage.  Ideally, the parent node should be centrally located in your home.  Since every home is different, you can always add nodes where it is needed.

If your home is already wired with an ethernet connection, you can use this type of connection to increase the range of the node and reduce the risk of WiFi interference.  To learn more, click
here.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1.  How do I manually reset my devices to factory defaults?

Press and hold the reset button located on the side of the extender or at the bottom part of the node until the light blinks red three times.  This process can take 6-10 seconds.

You can also restart the node to resolve connectivity issues.  For instructions, click
here.

2.  How do I recover my admin password?

When you set up the node, a secure admin password is created to secure it.  For security reasons, this password will not be visible.  You can change this password by logging into the Linksys app using the Linksys cloud account you created or used when you set up the node.  If the Linksys cloud is down or if you can't log in using the admin password, you can still recover the password without resetting the node.  To learn more, click
here.

SPECIAL FEATURES

1.  What is bridge mode?

Bridge mode allows you to use the node to extend your existing network.  If you want to continue using your existing router or modem router (gateway) as your main network, you can enhance your WiFi using the node.

When on bridge mode, the node will not have its own separate network.  The nodes and all devices connected to your existing router or modem router (gateway) will be part of your existing network.  Your client devices, whether they are connected to the node or to the modem router (gateway), should be able to communicate with each other.

2.  How do I put the node into bridge mode?

You can set the node to bridge mode through the Linksys app by tapping on Advanced Settings > Internet Settings in the menu.  In the Connection Type section, select Bridge Mode.  For more information, click here.

3.  How can I tell if the node is in bridge mode?

The Linksys app will show on the dashboard that the node is in bridge mode.  You can also tap the menu icon and tap Advanced Settings > Internet Settings > Connection Type to verify.  The Connection Type should be on Bridge Mode and when you tap on it the Bridge Mode option should have a check mark.  The LinksysSmartWiFi.com page will also show on the homepage that it is in bridge mode.

4.  What features are disabled when the node is in bridge mode?

Some features will be disabled when the node is in bridge mode.  These include Devices, Speed Check, Parental Controls, Priority, WiFi MAC Filters, and other advanced features.
