Setting up a mesh WiFi without using Bluetooth

This article will help you set up your router if you are having Bluetooth® setup issues or simply just want to skip the Bluetooth setup.  This type of setup is called Temp WiFi Setup.

Before you begin
  • Make sure to install the latest Linksys app on your mobile device.
  • Make sure your router is in setup mode.  It must have a solid purple light.
  • Turn OFF the Bluetooth on your mobile device if needed.

Step 1:

Connect your mobile device to the default WiFi name and password found on the product label located at the bottom of the router.

Step 2:
Launch the Linksys app.

Step 3:
For iOS, select Set up a New Wi-Fi Network.  For Android™, select Launch Setup.

NOTE:  Setup may automatically begin once the Linksys app has detected your WiFi connection.

Setup will now check for your internet connection.

Step 4:
Create a Linksys cloud account by entering an Email Address and Password in the fields provided.  Tap Create Account to proceed.  If you already have an account, tap Log in here.  Setup will then link your account.

Step 5:
Create a name and password for your home WiFi.  Once done, tap Next.

Connect to your new WiFi.

Step 6:
Select the name that best describes the location of the router you are currently setting up.  Click Next.

Step 7:
On the Success! screen, tap Next.

NOTE:  If you want to add a node, tap Add a Node.  Otherwise, tap That's it for Now.  You can also add a node later by logging in to the Linksys app dashboard.  For instructions, click here.

Step 8:
Future updates will happen overnight.  These will be automatic and will only take a few minutes.  Tap Next.

You may now connect your devices to your new WiFi including your mobile device used for setup.  Tap Go to Dashboard to check the features and settings of your mesh system.

You have now set up your router without using Bluetooth.
